Thankful Thursday #3

Thursday, 6 November 2014

Welcome back to Thankful Thursday, I originally started writing these last month when they were listed in the prompts for the October Blogging Challenge, but I think they are actually a pretty good idea, so I might keep them...

Halloween: Yes this week I am thankful for Halloween! I am aware that it has technically already passed, and was last week. Halloween is my favourite time of year, I absolutely love dressing up, and I love horror, so why wouldn't this be my favourite? This year I got to dress up TWICE, well I say dress up, both of my costumes were very last minute, so I spent a lot more effort on my make up this year. I also did my boyfriend's make up, twice, yes... he did let me put make up on him! I have photographic evidence on my Instagram.

My New Job: I started work this week at a company that I have major love for, and whilst I am contracting there, I honestly couldn't be happier. I feel so much more at home there than I did in my last job. On top of that I'm being given a tonne of responsibility, and actually feel like a grown up. I'm lucky enough to work somewhere that there is an amazing working environment, and facilities (including free buses), and it still amazes me every morning when I walk into work.

Rediscovering Old music: Within the last week I have started listening to some old 'Now' albums that I've found on Spotify and have rediscovered a whole heap of music that I used to listen to all the time. There will be a playlist coming shortly so watch this space!

My Diary: I now write daily 'To Do' lists in my diary, and it helps keep me on track with everything I want to accomplish for the day, and makes me get off my bum in the evenings and actually get everything done that I need to do. Without it I honestly think I would waste a lot of my time just staring aimlessly at my computer. I mean I still do that, just a lot less.

Motivational Monday

Monday, 3 November 2014

Today I started a new job, in a company I have always liked, in a place I have always wanted to work, doing something that is not sales related. I literally couldn't be happier right about now. I was pretty nervous this morning when I was getting ready, but having spent a whole day there, I cannot wait to go back.

I found this quote online, and I really think is sums up how I'm feeling right now. Starting a new job is always scary, but your job is what you make of it, and I am certainly going to make the most of this one!

OBC #22: A New Beginning...

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

I know, I know, I haven't exactly been keeping up with this blog challenge the past week or so, I'm really sorry about that. I'm hoping to finish it strong by writing a post every day until the end of the month, starting today.

Today's prompt was supposed to be a 'Wordless Wednesday', however as I didn't have any pictures prepared I thought I could talk to you about something else.

On November 3rd I will be starting a job in a place where I have always wanted to work. Whilst I will be contracting, and not necessarily working for the company, I am still super excited about it. It's only a four month contract with a few of progressing, either in the company I will be working at, or within the company who is contracting me there. I am happy to say that the job I am undertaking, is NOT in sales. I breathed a massive sigh of relief when they offered me the job, because I have been dying to get out of sales for a long, long time. Unfortunately for me, I appear to have the perfect CV for sales, but now I will be getting some Admin experience under my belt, which will hopefully start to move me towards where I want to be.

So today, I thought I would share with you some of the things I noticed whilst searching for jobs recently:

1) There are a billion jobs in sales and recruitment. These jobs come across as being highly competitive, when in reality the Sales sector probably has the highest turn around of staff than any other sector.

2) There are quite a lot of jobs in construction available, and not the ones you would immediately think of either.

3) This time of year there are a tonne of retail jobs available. This is because they hire their seasonal staff, and more often than not they keep these staff on once the holiday season has ended.

4) Recruiters will hassle you if you have your CV up on Reed.co.uk. The amount of calls I get a week from recruiters, just because my CV is up on the Reed website is ridiculous. If you are looking for work, then that is a brilliant place to put your CV up. Not only can you browse available jobs, but 9/10 times you get recruiters doing all the hard work for you and calling you up with vacancies.

If you are looking to change jobs, then start now. Sometimes it can be a slow process, and then other times you may have the perfect role for you land right in your lap. It's all about putting yourself out there and giving it a go.

#100HappyDays 8-17

Monday, 17 March 2014

I know, I know, I haven't blogged in a good week or so... BUT I have had good reason! Firstly, last Monday, I started my new job, and secondly, myself and Tim have moved in together!! It's all very exciting. We got the keys last Monday, but have only just officially moved in, due to not having any furniture! I will be doing a tour of the place once everything is unpacked and we are settled, but for now I thought it was about time that I caught up with my #100HappyDays photos! We've got a lot to get through, so let's get going!

Day 8: We bought this lovely blue orchid for the flat, it looks so pretty in our windowsill, plus blue is my favourite colour!

Day 9: I went to Cotswalds Wildlife Park and they only have a low wall around the penguin enclosure, so I got pretty close to this guy! He even let us stroke him!

Day 10: Tim treated me to lunch at Café Rouge! I just had a chicken baguette, although he also let me have a pudding, so I had their tarte tatin! Which is freaking awesome!

Day 11: The first day we had keys to the flat, so I thought I would sneak up a cheeky photo of it! This is actually part of the living room...

Day 12: We had our first takeaway in the flat, although there was flatpack furniture everywhere...

Day 13: I've started taking softmints to work, and they are seriously scrummy!

Day 14: We finished putting our bed up! This was actually the first night we slept in the flat, it was awesome! P.s it's a kingsize!

Day 15: My first home made lunch, in my brand new lunchbox, I was extremely proud!

Day 16: I went to see Fall Out Boy with my sister, and we got to the second row!!! It was THE most awesome concert I have ever been too. I sang along to every single song, and now with it only being the day after, my voice is all over the place.. totally worth it though.

Day 17: I was very lucky that Tim and I received this Air Fryer as a moving in present! We'd been eyeing one up since way before we even chose the flat, but now we have one! We are both seriously excited to use it!!

There we have it, a massive roundup of my #100HappyDays photos! If you want to see them as I post them, then follow me on Instagram, and let me know what you guys have been getting up to! I'm hoping to get back to my normal blogging now we've actually moved in, and especially want to get my Youtube back on track, so watch this space!

23 Before 23 Update #2

Thursday, 6 March 2014

I had another look over my '23 Before 23' list the other day, and realised that I have started a few of my other goals, so I thought it was time for another update! So I don't bombard you with updates on my list, I thought I should keep them monthly, and I will be writing these updates at the beginning of each month. Let's get this thing started!

Get a Full Time Job
I can now say that I have achieved this goal! I am starting my new, full time job, next week. Although I know next week is going to be super stressful, what with starting my new job AND moving in with Tim, but i cannot wait for our life to settle down so we can really live it!

Do Something for Charity
Every year I say that I am going to do something for charity, and every year I chicken out! This year is THE year. I am signing up for the Race for Life in my home town! I want to do it in costume, I'm thinking of getting people to donate to decide which costume I wear, but I'll let you know about that at a later date!

Work on Being Happy
I'm taking part in the #100HappyDays photo challenge! If you want to follow it, you'll be able to check them out every day on my Instagram. Also I will be completing weekly posts showcasing my photos! This is supposed to make me focus on the little things that make me happy every day, and it's certainly working so far!

So there we have it, only a month in and I've already completed two goals! I'm really proud of how I'm doing so far this year!

Getting Personal: 3 and 1/2 weeks...

Tuesday, 16 April 2013

That's how long I have before my whole world changes. I may sound a bit melodramatic right now, but it's how I feel right now. In fact I went for lunch yesterday with my two best friends, Ellie and Elliot, and I worked out that I have 3 1/2 weeks left in Aberystwyth. I almost got a little teary eyed. The worst part about it is I have ZERO free time because I have a million assignments to do. I'm moving back to Newbury around the 11th of May, and I am scared, here are the reasons why:
  1. I have to find a job: In the current climate it's going to be pretty tough for me to find a job, although I am going into it with the view that ANY job is a job, so i'm hoping I won't have to wait too long.
  2. I have to share a room again: Me and my sister (Who coincidentally has just started a blog), shared a room from when she was born until I left for Uni 3 years ago. I literally couldn't remember what it was like to have my own room. In fact when I came to uni I found it unsettling being in a room by myself, but I've grown to love it. I also have a lot of stuff that I have accumulated during my time here that I have to cram into a shared room.. this is not going to be fun.
  3. I'm going to miss my friends: I was getting teary eyed yesterday just thinking about it. I get to see my friends almost whenever I want to, I see Ellie EVERY day because we live together. It's going to be weird not sitting together in the evenings on our laptops just messing around, or watching Masterchef together...
So there you have it, some of the things I am not looking forward to! I am also going to be REALLY busy over the next few weeks so my blogging will probably begin to slow down, the only upside of this is that once I move home I will have LOTS of time for blogging. Let me know in the comments if you have any big changes coming up in your lives!
