Tuesday 31 December 2013

This year has certainly been an interesting one for me, both blog wise, and just life in general, so I thought seeing as it's the New Year, that I should share some key points from the year!

2nd Feb 2013: I turned 21, and had a spectacular birthday at home, which I wrote about here. I also wrote a list of 22 things I wanted to accomplish before I turned 22. I still have a month left to go on that!

27th September 2013:  I did a product review for the wonderful Prairie Charms, and I'll be doing another very shortly ;)

What I Got for Christmas!

Tuesday 31 December 2013

Since everyone else has been posting these all over the internet, I thought it was about time that I jumped on the bandwagon. So here is what I got this year for Christmas!

The first gift I got was from the lovely Kerrie from Pish, Posh and Polish. She got me this wonderful Benefit palette! I have used it once already and I can already see it becoming part of my daily makeup routine, so thanks Kerrie!

My sister got me this super cute stuffed Pascal, with a little santa hat, and bowtie! How cute is he? Tangled is one of my favourite new disney films, and Pascal is super sweet and funny!

She also got me some more Yankee Wax Tarts! I have so many of these that I have to start using. My main problem is I only have one burner. When I move out I plan to buy some more and have a different fragrance in every room! I also got two nail polishes from her, but I couldn't find them to photograph!

Mum got me this birthstone bracelet from Avon, and i've worn it pretty much every day since Christmas, it goes with everything!

My boyfriend got me this Doctor Who themed pendant, which has some circular Galifreyan inspired pattern, and it's in my favourite colour, what's not to like?

Of course I had to get some perfume for Christmas, and this year it seems that my family went down the Celebrity perfume route! Justin Beiber's Someday is one of my favourite perfumes. Don't get me wrong though, I don't like Justin Beiber, it's just that he happened to put his name to a really lovely perfume! My nan got me this bottle, and I was so glad as I actually ran out of it a few weeks ago. My mum also got me a perfume, she opted for the JLS perfume 'Kiss'. This one is very different to what I would normally wear, it's quite a musky scent, but I really enjoy wearing it, and we all know how much I love JLS!

My boyfriend actually took note of my Christmas Wishlist post and bought me this nerdy card game that I asked for! We have only played it once so far, but it's actually pretty fun!

My nan got me this owl throw and a pair of lovely thick owl socks! I actually got 70% less owl gifts than I got last year, but a few still managed to creep in!

My mum got me this lovely bright burnt orange fox t-shirt, with some black glitter on it! I love foxes, I think they are so cute, and I can't wait to wear this!

My nan got me this owl jumper dress thingy from Primark with a hood. It's really fluffy and has a nice big pocket on the front of it. I'm not really sure how to describe what it is, but it looks really cozy and I'm going to be cuddling up in it tonight watching the TV with my boyfriend!

My nan got me this super awesome earmuffs, that are actually headphones! They have this super cute owl design on the sides, and the sound quality is really good! I'm going to be using these all the time, she also got my sister a similar pair with a penguin design, they are seriously awesome!

I saved the best gift until last, and that is this beautiful silver jewellery box that my boyfriend got me! It's even engraved with my name. It's something that I really didn't expect from him and I really love it! This is going to be housing all my favourite pieces of jewellery, including my Doctor Who necklace.

I also used up my Christmas money on Boxing day and got myself something that I have been yearning for since I first clapped eyes on it. A Samsung Galaxy Tab 3!

I've already downloaded a billions apps, and it's become my go to device for browsing! Especially seeing as my laptop is painfully slow at the moment, although I have my boyfriend working on that!

As well as everything pictured above I got lots of little nick nacks and lots and lots of chocolate, despite telling everyone that I didn't want any...

Let me know in the comments what you got for Christmas, I'd love to hear all about it!

Studio London Eye Create Palette

Saturday 21 December 2013

Hello everyone! It feels like forever since I wrote a make-up post, but here we are! Today I am bringing you this beautiful little palette from Studio London! I actually picked this up on offer in Superdrug recently, I bought quite a few actually, and even picked up one to Giveaway to you lovely lot, but I'll get to that in a minute!

So let's start with how beautiful this looks inside:

The palette comes with 12 eyeshadows, 4 shimmer pots, an applicator and a mascara, so you certainly get your money's worth! Along the left-hand side, there are also some suggestions for looks that you may wish to create!

These eye shadows are so beautiful, and there is such an interesting range of colours, I've already got so many ideas of looks I can create. I thought I'd show you how these look on my skin, but these photos do not do these colours justice!

I have to say that Turquoise Skies is by far my favourite colour in this palette so far, and I already have a million ideas on how to use that one colour alone!

As well as the twelve beautiful eyeshadows there are four equally beautiful shimmer pots, the colour pay off on these is pretty good, although I found out the hard way that you need to be super careful when you open them, as mine went everywhere...

For me the winner of these four has to be Crushed Jade. It's so shimmery and beautiful, I can see myself wearing this all the time!

So there you have it guys, a quick look at this lovely little palette. As I mentioned above, I have one of these to giveaway, and there are three days left in my giveaway! If you want to enter yourself in the giveaway all you want to do is watch this Youtube video, and comment on the video answering this question: 'What is your favourite part of Christmas?'. I'll be picking a winner on Christmas Eve and it will be announced on the same day! So don't forget to get involved guys!

The Christmas Tag

Thursday 19 December 2013

Seeing as I have seen this literally EVERYWHERE over the past few weeks, I thought it was about time that I tackled it myself. I was going to do a video about it, but my hair is a mess today, so you will have to deal with my ramblings in blog form!

What is your favourite Christmas Film?
My favourite Christmas film is actually about the New year, I talked about it in this Youtube video I made. It's called 'Rudolph's Shiny new Year' and it's a stop motion animation film all about Rudolph the red nosed reindeer helping Father Time to save the New Year. It sounds really weird but trust me, it's ace!

Do you stay in your PJ's or dress up for Christmas?
Normally we all come downstairs as soon as we are awake, and have a family breakfast, for this we are normally all in our PJ's. But after breakfast I like to go upstairs and dress up. Not always in a really dressy way, but I normally wear something that I have bought especially. This year me and my boyfriend are both going to be wearing silly Christmas jumpers! Don't worry I'll make sure to take LOTS of photos...

Do you and your family open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
We have actually never opened our gifts on Christmas Eve, only ever on Christmas day. I think it would be nice to exchange one little gift on Christmas Eve though, so maybe I'll do that with my boyfriend in the future.

Favourite Holiday Song?
Christmas Time by The Darkness! I don't know what it is about that song, but I just have to belt it out whenever I hear it.

Favourite Christmas meal or treat?
I'm just a massive fan of the Christmas dinner to be honest. My favourite parts are the pigs in blankets, the roast potato's, and the honey roasted parsnips!

What happens on a typical Christmas Eve night in your house?
Normally we all watch a film together on Christmas Eve, sometimes this is Christmas themed, sometimes not. It depends on the mood. This year however I am planning to make and decorate a gingerbread house with my boyfriend!

Does it snow where you live?
It does, however never at Christmas. It actually always decides to snow on my Birthday (2nd Feb), and it never ceases to spoil whatever birthday plans I have managed to make!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. We've always had fake trees at home, I'm not really sure why. However I have been hearing a lot from customers at work, that they have gone and picked and cut down their own tree, which I think would be awesome! So as soon as me and the boyfriend have our own place, we'll be doing that!

So there you have it guys, that's the Christmas tag done and dusted. Let me know in the comments if you tackle the Christmas tag, I would love to have a read of them!

Friday 29 November 2013

Here is what I have been loving this week:

This fanimation is based on some of my favourite Youtube gamers, and one of their funniest moments... It makes me giggle so much!

This Xbox one ad is seriously funny, and it also fuels my SERIOUS WANT for an Xbox One... I hate being poor...

Steve Kardynal strikes again! If you haven't seen his original Chatroulette - Call me Maybe then you need to watch that first. This guy is an absolute legend! Trolling has never been so legendary!

This GIF makes me lol so hard and I don't even know why...

I found this handy contouring picture online! I'll definitely be giving this a go when I get some time.

This Spanish prank is absolutely halarious, and in no way cruel...

I certainly agree with this quote I found online...

As if Helena would ever get sick of those two!

Of course this week would not be complete without a Doctor Who related funny!

Hope you enjoyed my favourites from this week, let me know in the comments.

22 before 22: Re-evaluation

Monday 18 November 2013

It's pretty interesting having a look back at my 22 Before 22 list, and seeing all the things that I wanted to achieve this year. I have a little over two months left before my birthday, so I thought I'd have a look over the list, and see where I am up to!

  • Go on a holiday without my family (Outside of the UK): This one is something that I am no closer to actually getting done. Mainly because I don't have any money for a holiday at the moment, and secondly because I now no longer have time to organise.
  • Make an item of clothing: I did buy myself a book on sewing, and I already have a sewing machine, so I should be ALMOST there. However I don't think I'm going to get this one done either.
  • Write a Script: Although I have the first act of a script mapped out, I have not had the drive, or interest to pick it up again. I'm sure I will one day, just not any time soon.
  • Make a Scrapbook: This was something which at the beginning of the year I was really interested in doing, but it has since lost it's appeal.
  • Watch every film on my 'To Watch' list: Although I am committed to watching all the films on my list, I have found that I have to be in a certain mood to watch the films on my list, so although I do want to work my way through it, I'm going to do it at my own pace.
  • Learn a new craft: I'm not really sure what I wanted to get out of this goal when i wrote this list...
  • Lost Weight: I am slowly getting there, and I'm positive that I will reach my goal weight eventually.
  • Start Making Youtube Videos: I'm proud to say that this has finally happened, and I'm really happy with how it's going! I'm even planning to take part in Vlogmas! If you want to check out my channel then please click here.
  • Take More Photos: This is something else I have gotten better at. Ever since I got my iPhone 5S, I have been taking a tonne more pictures. Most of which have ended up on instagram, so check those out if you like!
  • Walk my dog more: I have been walking my little cutie a lot more, and I am enjoying spending time with my little fluffball.
  • Work through my Baking Book: I do still really enjoy baking, but considering a lifestyle change that I have made recently, I won't be baking as often as I would like to anymore.
  • Read 5 Classic Novels: Although I have completed one out of 5 on my list, I haven't made any progress towards the other four, mainly due to the fact that I have a gigantic stack of unread books in my room that I am slowly working through.
  • Stay in touch with my friends: This one has been a little bit more difficult. I was doing fine, up until recently when my two best friends completely betrayed me. I don't really want to go into it but yeah...
  • Play a Sport: I'm disappointed that I haven't managed to start this one yet, but I do have some plans to take up a few lessons soon.
  • Move out of my mum's house?: I had always put this with a question mark because I wasn't 100% sure of it happening, considering at the beginning of the year I was still at Uni. I really don't see this one happening before I reach my 22nd birthday, but I can definitely see it happening next year!
  • Have a Radio Show: I did get fairly close to having my own show on a local volunteer radio station, however the radio manager was taking my show ideas a little too literally, and he would have completely ruined my concept. Therefore I decided against going ahead with the show.
  • Listen to more music: I'm pleased to say that this has been happening, and the addition of Spotify in my life is certainly helping.
  • See more of the UK: I have visited a few more cities this year, and I have fallen in love with one in particular, Bristol. I'm even considering moving there in the future, but we'll see!
  • Write a letter to someone who inspires me: I definitely still think this is a good idea, and I will definitely get this done before my birthday!
  • Maintain my blogs: As you can see, from the fact that I am still posting, I am still maintaining my blog! YAY!
Overall I'm fairly pleased with how my list is going, and I can't wait to see what I achieve when my birthday comes around.

Bliss in Bristol

Wednesday 13 November 2013

Last week I was lucky enough to have a whole week off of work. Originally this was so that I could attend the Abertoir horror film festival in Aberystwyth. However for personal reasons I had to cancel those plans. However rather than just waste my time off, my boyfriend suggested that we spend the weekend somewhere else. I spent a week by myself in Bristol at the beginning of September for my training with work, and I suggested that we return there so that I could do some of the things that I didn't get around to last time! So I thought I'd share with you guys a couple of the things that we did/saw.

The Aquarium:

On our first full day in Bristol, we paid a visit to the Aquarium, which was actually not even five minutes away from our hotel! I love aquariums, especially when they are filled with brightly coloured, beautiful fishies!

The jellyfish were one of the first exhibits that we came across, they had two tanks of these jellyfish, some under blue light, and some under red. I managed to snap this beautiful picture just as it opened up!

This stingray was swimming right on the top of the water, and kept lifting it's mouth up into the air. It was really cute.

We managed to stumble across my favourite tropical fish! Although this one looks less than impressed that I managed to get a picture of him.

I couldn't resist snapping this picture of all the beautiful clown fish in this tank. There were bright orange, and black ones, which I had actually never seen before. We were even just in time to watch the tiger sharks being fed, but I didn't get any decent pictures of that.

Shopping:

I literally couldn't resist popping into Primark whilst we were in Bristol. Especially seeing as the Bristol Primark is a massive FOUR FLOORS! It's literally a bloggers dream...

I couldn't resist messing around with the novelty christmas glasses, although I simply couldn't bring myself to actually buy a pair! I did however manage to find my perfect Christmas jumper!!! I have wanted to buy myself one every Christmas for the last three years, but I have never been able to get one in time. This year however I am pleased to announce I have got one. I'll keep it as a surprise!

I also managed to convince my boyfriend to buy a Christmas jumper, so that on Christmas day we will both look as silly as each other. He didn't seem impressed at first, but warmed to the idea once we found the perfect jumper for him!

Of course a shopping trip wouldn't be complete without a little treat for myself, and I found that I just couldn't resist this amazing tiger top. Once we got onto the main highstreet, we were both surprised to find that there was a German Christmas market going on from now right up until Christmas. I didn't manage to snap any pics but I found this one online:

There were German food stalls, sweet stalls, German beer bars. As well as other christmassy gifts! I became a little bit enchanted by one of the jewellery stalls and couldn't resist buying myself this necklace as a nice momento of our trip.

Food:

Me and my boyfriend both love food, and so of course we were both excited about eating out for three nights! Seeing as we arrived fairly late on the Thursday night, I just suggested that we grab something at a restaurant close to the hotel, so we opted for Prezzo's.

Neither of us were hungry enough for a starter, so just kicked it off with the mains. He had a classic pepperoni pizza with chicken, whereas I opted for a Calzone with chicken, pepperoni, and peppers. Mine was absolutely delicious, and I almost polished it off.

If you know me at all then you will know that I cannot resist having a dessert, even if I am fit to burst. I didn't want anything too heavy, so I settled on the three gelato's. Although I didn't realise that they came in cones, and were basically full sized ice creams. I didn't have to worry though, as my boyfriend kindly stepped in to save me! Pictured above are chocolate truffle, and two bubblegum cones.

On our second night we decided to visit Frankie and Benny's. I had actually been on my last trip to Bristol and assured Tim that he would love it. Although there was a slight hiccup with our table, and waiting time, we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

I decided to have a bit of a treat, and started off with a cosmopolitan. Although this was unlike any cosmo I had ever had, and was slightly sour, though still enjoyable.

For starters I went for the bacon and cheese potato skins, which are absolutely TO DIE for!

After my sour cosmopolitan I decided to go with a sweet Pineapple Mai Tai, we got a pitcher so that we could share, although I ended up drinking the majority of it!

For mains we both settled on the same thing, BBQ ribs. The plate was massive, and I was a little worried about how I would finish it, but I decided to leave the fries, and focus on the ribs! Our meal at Frankie and Benny's was so good, that we are going back this evening! Obviously not to Bristol...

On our final night we went to Za Za Bazaar. A world food all you can eat buffet that has a little bit of everything. Unfortunately it was too dark for me to get any decent pictures with my iphone, and I forgot to take my camera. But here are a few pics I found online:

If you ever go to Bristol you absolutely MUST go to Za Za Bazaar, it's about £18pp not including drinks, and you get to eat as much as you can stomach. You are limited to how much time you have in the restaurant, but I think this is fair, otherwise you could just sit in there all day and eat... That's how much food they have!

Everything Else:

On top of everything I already mentioned we managed to fit in a round of jungle themed crazy golf, go ice skating, visit a museum, and complete another Treasure Trail. All in the space of three days.

To top it all off, right before we were leaving I spotted something in Build-a-bear that I really wanted, and not only did my boyfriend not complain, but he actually offered to buy it for me! So say hello to Rainbow Dash!

I had a really amazing time in Bristol, and it was the perfect treat for me and my boyfriend to share together. Although we've only been together properly a month today, it feels like I've known him much longer. He really knows how to treat me, and lets me be 100% myself. I hope that we'll continue to grow together, and that he'll continue to put up with me! Hope you enjoyed my post, and I'll leave you with the first actual photo of us together:
