Selfie Star Competition With Just My Look

Wednesday, 18 May 2016

A few weeks back I was contacted by someone at Just My Look, asking if I would like to get involved in promoting their current competition, Selfie Star. The Selfie Star contest is a celebration of taking selfies, something which everyone seems to do nowadays (my sister even gets our nan involved in selfies). Selfies mean different things to different people, for some they just enjoy the fun of it, and for other if they feel good they want to capture that moment forever. For me a Selfie is all about documenting me and my life, and the ways in which it has changed, so that when I'm in my late 70's I can look back through my social media accounts and relive my memories. To help me raise my selfie game, Just My Look let me chose some products to help me create my signature selfie look!

Blogger Beauty Box March 2016

Photograph of the Blogger Beauty Box Contents
Blogger Beauty Box Contents
I know what you are all thinking, why am I only know writing about a Beauty Box that I received back in March? Short answer, I forgot to right about it. Long answer, life has seriously been kicking my butt over the last few months, and as such blogging has been fairly low on my 'to do' list. So a bit of background on how I found this beauty box. I happened to be scrolling through twitter when I came across @bbloggerbox and I was intrigued to find that this is a beauty box specifically created for Beauty Bloggers like myself. The idea is to connect beauty brands and bloggers in a quick and easy way, and the best part of all is that it only costs £10 per box! March was the first box that I signed up for, but have since bought both the April and the May box, so expect unboxings of those coming soon!

All of the products I received in the March Blogger Beauty Box
All of the products I received
Inside the box were a mix of full sized products and samples for us to try. Honestly I was surprised to see that some of the items were full sized considering I only paid £10 for the whole box but here is what I got, and what my initial thoughts on the products are:

Full Sized Products:

Sass Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate: This is a product from a skincare brand that I have personally never heard of, but after a quick Google search I found they are available in Boots. This particular product is specifically for using on the intimate area after shaving/waxing to prevent ingrown hairs. I haven't had a chance to use this product yet but I find the concept very intriguing, and anything to help me through the first week of regrowth, am I right ladies? Looking on the Boots website this retails at £12.

Moa Aphrodite Facial Oil: This is another skincare product, from yet another brand that I have never heard of. This particular facial oil contains Rosehip for its skin regeneration properties, Damask rose oil for dry/sensitive skin types prone to redness and a few other ingredients to help balance, cleanse and soothe your skin. Now a facial oil is something that I would never purchase for myself. I have oily skin, so the last thing I want to do is add more oil to the equation, but for the sake of science I am willing to slip this into my daily routine and give it a go. One thing I will say is that it smells amazing, and considering they suggest you only use 1-2 drops each time I can see it lasting forever! This product retails online for £20.

BeeBio Nectar Instant Eye Effect Serum: BeeBio is a New Zealand high end skincare brand, at least that's what I found from a quick Google search. Again I have never heard of their products but I think their packaging looks really great. It looks as though their skincare is more directed towards anti-aging, which is something that I personally don't tend to look for in my skincare. However I am fairly intrigued by the ingredients listed on this one. It contains Manuka Honey and Pure Bee Venom for an instant effect to reduce fine lines and puffiness. It's certainly peaked my interest and I will be giving it a go for a few weeks to see what happens with it. This product retails at NZ$129 so would cost roughly £60 to purchase, so fairly hefty for skincare. I shall have to report back with my findings!

Faust's Potions Elephant Family Recovery Pack: This item is contains two vitamin supplement drinks one of which helps you to stay sharp and awake, and the other which will help you get a good nights sleep. Now I'm not the type to be drinking supplement drinks or taking vitamin tablets etc. So this product honestly isn't for me. I do find it hard to drift off to sleep sometimes so maybe I'll give the Asleep potion a try. I would like to add the packaging for this item was hands down my favourite (it had elephants on it), and this item retails for only £6 so isn't too bad.

Sample Sizes:

MeruMaya Mud Marvels Mask 3ml: Ever since giving the Avon Black Mineral mask a go I have been a big fan of mud masks, so I was glad to see a tester of one for me to try. The MeruMaya mask claims to decongest and detoxify, clarify and deep cleanse, and finally revitalise and rejuvenate. The listed ingredients include charcoal which is the main component for a lot of the best mud masks which help to remove blackheads and blemishes. This was a sample size at 3ml so I would probably get one mask out of this. The full sized product comes in at 50ml and retails for £19.50, not bad if it does the trick!

MAYA Confident Styling and Curling Creme: This came in a little sample pot, and also came with a leaflet explaining a little more about the product, which was nice because from looking at the little pot itself I had no idea what it was! This product has a blend of 12 natural oils to keep hair looking and feeling strong, soft and healthy. This product is made to be used in wet air, before allowing the hair to air dry. I'm not that big on hair care, because I have such fine hair, I never really know what to do with it, but I will be giving this a go to see if it will help with the frizziness that I sometimes experience. The full sized product is 250ml and costs £22.95.

JR Naturorganics Mandarin and Chamomile Balancing Moisturiser: This is another skincare item, and this time we have a moisturiser, which according to their website is vegan and cruelty free so that's an immediate plus from me. This particular moisturiser is targeted towards normal/sensitive skin. Which unfortunately isn't my skin type, but I could still make this work so will be trying it out for as long as the sample lasts. The full sized product is 30g and costs £35, which considering the fact this is vegan and cruelty free is a good price.

So there you have the entire contents of the Blogger Beauty Box from March. You should expect to see another post like this very shortly as I am expecting my April box to arrive very soon! If you would like some more information on the box then please feel free to check out their website.

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Collection

Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Collection
As soon as I saw the sneak peek photos of the new Urban Decay Alice collection I knew I had to have it. I missed out on getting the original Alice collection because at the time I was a student and had no money to spend on makeup (not that I have the money now either). The first thing I did was contact my local Urban Decay counter, and put my name down on the waiting list for the palette, and was delighted to find that there weren't that many people on the list ahead of me. Then however I found out that the college which I did my makeup course with, DFMA, were running an exclusive event with Urban Decay in Convent Garden, and this meant that I would be able to get my hands on the palette a full week before it's proper release! Of course I jumped at the chance...

Ever since I first saw some of my favourite Youtuber beauty guru's using Makeup Geek eyeshadows I have wanted to try them out. For whatever reason it took me a really long time to get my hands on them, and the only reason I finally got them was because I won them on a raffle!

Kiko Intensive Lip Mask!
A few weeks ago when I was in Reading meeting up with the lovely Lisa from United Cakedom, we decided to pop into Kiko and see what they had around. At the time they had a bit of a clearance sale happening and they were offering 5 items (from the clearance section) for £10. That was an opportunity that I simply couldn't pass up.

A few weeks ago I had a mysterious tweet, asking for my email address regarding a blogging opportunity. I'm always open to opportunities that come my way, particularly when it involves an event. I can never resist going out and meeting other bloggers, and networking, because talking with other people who understand what it's like to blog is priceless. Anyway an email landed in my inbox regarding the launch party of a new skin clinic called Sk:n in Reading.

Avon Black Mineral Mask

Avon Black Mineral Mask
A few weeks ago I wrote an Avon Haul post, where I mentioned that I have recently fallen back in love with the brand after a long time away. One of the first products I picked up in my very first order was the Pore Penetrating Black Mineral mask. I was looking for a face mask which I could use weekly to help remove the excess oils from my skin, so I was hoping that this would do the trick...

I hate my eyelashes, and I always have. Now I know everyone is going to be all like, 'hate is such a strong word', but it's true. My lashes and I are sworn enemies, and that's that way it has always been...

Avon Haul #1

Photograph of all of my Avon Haul Goodies
Avon Haul Goodies
I mentioned a few weeks ago when I reviewed the Avon Perfectly Matte Lipsticks that I hadn't bought any Avon products since my mum was a rep when I was a teenager. Recently however that has changed dramatically, and I have been spending more and more time leafing through the catalogues and spending all my money there! I thought I would share my purchases so that I could actually sit down and work out what I have actually spent...

Urban Decay Goodie Bag

Monday, 21 March 2016

Photo of all the items from our event goodie bag

Over a month ago I was invited along to go to an event at an Urban Decay counter in The Oracle, Reading, which you can read about here. On the night we were very lucky to receive a goody bag from the team at Urban Decay, which was not only very surprising, but also greatly appreciated. Urban Decay is a brand that I have always been interested in, however until very recently I had never actually owned any products from them. You will have seen me mention before that I have started collecting their eyeshadow palettes since Christmas, but until the event I hadn't really ever used any of their other products. Since the event I have been obsessed with growing my UD collection, and this goodie bag certainly really helped...

Avon Perfectly Matte Lipsticks

Beautiful classic packaging
A long time ago when I was younger my mum was an Avon Representative and I used to help her hand out books, and collect them, and every so often she would let me put a little order in. Nine times out of ten that order would be makeup, I used to be absolutely obsessed with the Colour Trend brand they have, and because it was so cheap I could often get quite a few bits. When mum stopped being a representative, I kind of just stopped buying Avon. That was until very recently when Avon seem to be trying to re-market themselves towards a younger market...

A few weeks ago I was scrolling through my Instagram feed when something beautiful caught my eye, some new lipsticks from my favourite budget brand, Makeup Revolution. I'll be totally honest it was the packaging that really grabbed me, I am a big fan of the rose gold trend, so as soon as I saw these I knew I would have to buy some...

My Recent Palette Purchases

Thursday, 3 March 2016

Last year I made the decision not to buy only Drugstore/cheap makeup, and to spend some money investing in some high end makeup. This was in the hopes that I would be a lot more likely to use the makeup that I bought, considering it would cost a decent amount of money. Now I'm sure that I have mentioned before that I have an absolute obsession with eye shadow palette's, so naturally that is where I started...

The Oracle Valentines Event with Urban Decay

Saturday, 13 February 2016

A few days ago I was sent an invitation for an event that got me very excited. It was a Valentines makeover event at Urban Decay in the House of Fraser at The Oracle shopping centre in Reading. Of course I jumped at the chance to get my makeup done, especially as I had never had it done at an Urban Decay counter before. So yesterday evening I made the journey into Reading, all set to be pampered like mad.

Photo of urban decay stand with heart balloons

On arrival we were offered a sparkling drink, but as this was alcoholic I declined. Then once everyone had arrived the team started by giving us a little brand introduction to Urban Decay. I was obviously aware of Urban Decay before this event, particularly for their eyeshadow palettes, and eye primer potion. The team told us that Urban Decay was founded in 1996, because the founder thought that there was a distinct lack of colour in high end makeup. They also told us that their most popular products (other than the Naked palettes) are their setting sprays.

Then we moved on to the makeover part of the event, and they explained that as it is Valentines this weekend that they would do the makeover as sort of a 'speed date'. So each of the team had their own station of either complexion, eyes, and lips. We would then take turns rotating around the stations until we had our makeup completed!

Master at work

That's a lot of face products...
I started by having my base done by the lovely Bradley. He started by lining up all of the products that he was going to use on me, as shown above. He did pick out three foundations to colour match me, but I advised I was most likely the lightest shade they had, and that was definitely the case. So we started with the B6 vitamin prep spray, to keep the skin happy. Followed by the pore perfecting primer, which is silicone based to help smooth out the pores, for a more flawless finish. Then we went onto the Naked Skin foundation, which I was personally dying to try. As soon as he put the foundation on I really noticed how light it felt, I really didn't feel like I had anything on. I was also very delighted and surprised that this covered a lot of my redness on my cheeks, and also a few blemishes that I had too. Then he used the Naked skin concealer, again in the lightest shade, this was just used under my eyes, to cover up my dark circles. We next moved on to the Naked skin ultra definition powder foundation, in the lightest shade. He used this to powder the foundation and concealer, as I had asked for a particularly matte finish, which is my favourite kind, due to having oily skin. To add a little colour and glow back into my face with the skin we used the bronzer and highlighter from the lightest Naked flushed palette. Finally we finished with the De-slick makeup setting spray, designed to control oil, and keep your makeup looking flawless.

After having my skin done, I got to watch a few of the other girls having their makeup done, whilst waiting for one of the stations to become available. I always really enjoying watching people having their makeup done, I think it's something to do with the transformation.

Another complexion consultation in progress

After watching a few of the ladies having their makeup done it was time for me to move to the next station, lips. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of this being done to me, but all he did was use the 24/7 Glide-on lip liner in bang, which is a lovely bright red, all over the lips, and then on top used one of the Revolution lipsticks in a darker red. For the life of me I cannot remember what the shade he used was called, but the finished effect was a lovely sultry red, perfect for Valentines day.

A lip consultation in progress

Unfortunately I never made it to the eyes station, as the store closed at 8pm, and although the team were very happy to continue working on us, the shutters had gone down and we needed to vacate the shop. The team however were kind enough to suggest us booking in another time to come and get our full face done, which I am certainly planning to do! Finally we were given a Hotel Chocolat goody bag, and the team at Urban Decay were even kind enough to give us a goodie bag, which was very generous of them.

Upon getting home and opening my goody bag I was delighted to see that it was bursting with Urban Decay products that I had never tried before! I will be doing an entirely separate post with swatches of everything I received but for now here is everything that I got in my goody bags:

  • Hotel Chocolat Passion Fruit Truffles
  • Urban Decay Little Perversions Set (includes: Mascara, precision eyeliner, all nighter eyeliner, lash primer, glide-on eyeliner pencil - all travel sized)
  • 2 x Urban Decay glide-on eye pencils in Desperation and Deep End
  • Urban Decay Brow Beater pencil and brush
  • Urban Decay eyeshadow in Bust
  • Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Kinky
  • Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Streak
As you can see we were very spoilt by the team, and I just want to say a massive thank you to Lauren of Frank PR for inviting me along to the event in the first place, also a big thank you to House of Fraser for hosting us! It was so great to get to meet some bloggers, and get our makeup done. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite Urban Decay products are?

Kiko January Sales Haul

Tuesday, 9 February 2016

Photo of Kiko cosmetics purchased in my haul

So it feels like it's been an age since I purchased these products and they have been sitting in their lovely bright red Kiko bag, waiting to have their pictures taken so they could feature on the blog. So I finally got my bum in gear, and managed to snap everything that I bought from Kiko around the time of the January sales. Not all of these products were on sale, some of them just caught my attention and had to be bought. I also had a £30 voucher for the Oracle in Reading, so I knew that I just had to spend it all in Kiko. So let's take a closer look at what I ended up getting.

Kiko Cosmetics Cosmic Starlets Double Glam Liner in 117
Cosmic Starlets Double Glam Liner: 117

My first purchase was this double ended eyeliner which I had been looking at ever since the Oracle Blogger Event that I went to in November. This particular one caught my eye because it has the perfect dark colour for doing your waterline/lash line, but then it also has this really pretty shimmery shade which is amazing for doing your inner corner highlight, or even a brow bone highlight. The formula of these eyeliners is really creamy, meaning you don't have to press too hard to get a good colour pay off, which is always a bonus with products you use around the eyes, because of the area's sensitive nature. This eyeliner came from the Cosmic Starlets collection, which was Kiko's Christmas 2015 collection, and was reduced down to only £4.80, which is a bargain for two eyeliners.

Kiko Cosmetics Mat Base Corrector and Full Coverage Concealer
Mat Base Corrector Primer, Full Coverage Concealer in 01

The next two items I purchased are all year round products, and were things that I was in desperate need of at the time of purchase. The first item is the Mat Base Corrector Primer, which I picked up because of how oily my skin is recently. Currently whenever I wear make up it just seems to slide off of my face, particularly around my T-zone, and then I get very shiny. So I thought a matte primer would be the perfect solution. This particular one is very thick and tacky, making it perfect for my foundation to grip onto, and it was only £8.90. The second item on my 'basics' list was a new concealer, particularly for my under-eye area. As I have such big eyes, I tend to get massive dark circles underneath them, and I really struggle to cover them up. I have tried many a concealer, including Benefit's Boi-ing Concealer and none seem to do the trick. With that in mind I thought I would see what Kiko had to offer and I came across their Full Coverage Concealer. After a quick swatch on the back of my hand it certainly seemed to give a good coverage, so I popped one in my basket to give a go, at £7.50 I thought it was probably worth a try.

Kiko Cosmetics Rebel Romantic Metallic Shine Eyeshadows in 01, 02, and 04
Rebel Romantic Metallic Shine Eyeshadows in 01, 02, and 04

The next items that caught my eye were these Rebel Romantic Metallic Shine Eyeshadows. I am a big sucker for anything shiny, and these eyeshadows are certainly that. When I dipped my finger in the tester pots I was surprised at how velvety they felt, unlike any other kind of eyeshadow I had ever tried. Then I knew I had to have one, and when I say one, I mean one of all the colours that caught my eye, and I settled on 01, 02 and 04. 01 is a lovely silvery and yet creamy shade which is another perfect brow bone highlight, or even for just a small shimmer on the centre of the eyelid. 02 is a lovely pink champagne kind of colour, which I thought went beautifully with 01, and could easily be put in the same eye look. Then finally I settled on 04, which is a deep navy blue which almost appears black. Blue being my favourite colour I knew that I couldn't leave this one behind, and these little gems were reduced to £3.40 each.

Kiko Cosmetics Campus Idol Double Match Lipsticks in Cool Rose and Strawberry Pop, Alongside Double Dare Eyeshadow and liner in Copper and Chocolate
Campus Idol Double Match Lipstick & Liners in Cool Rose and Strawberry Pop, Campus Idol Double Dare Eyeshadow & Liner in Copper and Chocolate

Finally whilst in the store I managed to stumble across Kiko's latest cosmetic collection, Campus Idol. The packaging is very bright, and mainly in primary colours, and each box has their own Kiko crest on them which makes them seem even more preppy. It was the Double Match Lipsticks that initially caught my eye, because not only do you get the lipstick, but you also get a matching lip liner in the other end, making these the perfect lip product to slip in your handbag on a night out. I was immediately drawn to the Cool Rose colour, as this seems like it would make a great nude colour for someone as pale as myself. Then my eye was drawn to Strawberry pop, which is a beautiful bright pink colour, with a hint of red in it. I was trying to chose between the two considering everything else that I had already picked up, but in the end I just couldn't decide, so I picked up both for £7.90 each. Finally I came across the Double Dare Eyeshadow and Eyeliner sticks, and after swatching a few I fell head over heels for the Copper eyeshadow, which comes with a chocolate coloured eyeliner, which I honestly don't normally wear, but for that copper eyeshadow I knew I would give it a go, and at £7.90 I knew I couldn't leave the copper behind.

So there is everything that I bought in the January sales, did you manage to get to Kiko in time for the sales? Let me know in the comments what your favourite item of my haul is?

Foundations I Want to Try

Monday, 1 February 2016

Welcome back to my blog everyone, I want to try and spend more time writing about specific topics on my blog, as well as adding in random bits and pieces. One of the topics that I am going to be writing more about, is Beauty. So that will include a lot of make up mainly, with maybe a bit of hair care and skin care thrown in. Today however I want to talk foundations. I don't know about you guys, but I am yet to find my 'holy grail' foundation, I have tried a few foundations that I sort of like, but never found one that I am so in love with that I would never switch away from it. Due to this I always have a lot of foundations in my wish list, and below are just a few of them...

I have tried a tester of Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation and I have heard from a fair few people that the L'oreal True Match foundation is a good high street dupe for Double Wear. I did enjoy double wear but at £30 for the bottle I can hardly justify buying it for day to day use. True Match comes in at £9.99 on Superdrug's website (currently on offer for £7.99), so is only a fraction of the price of double wear. At this price it's definitely worth a try.

This is a foundation that I am forever seeing my favourite Youtubers using, but have never really thought about buying myself. The name itself Nars 'Sheer Glow' has always put me off of it because I am not really a fan of a 'dewy' finish, and I just always assumed that was what you would get with this. However the other day I saw a post in a Facebook group I am a part of, and the poster was talking about having the same feelings about this foundation, however they gave it a try. What they found is that this is actual quite full coverage and isn't too dewy. Based on that post alone I have decided that I really want to give this a go. I am still having a serious think about it though because this foundation is £31...

Last but not least is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. Urban Decay is one of my favourite brands for eyeshadow, so why not try their foundation? This is another one that I have seen a fair amount of Youtubers using, and have always wondered about. Another thing that is pushing me towards this foundation is that I would like to try a high end foundation, as I am very prone to only ever spending less than £10 on a foundation, which I then never stick to. It's because of this that I wonder whether I would get more out of trying a high end foundation. This is another pretty pricey foundation at £27, but it is cheaper than the Nars Sheer Glow. Definitely something for me to think about anyway.

So there you have it, three foundations that I would like to try. Do you have any of the above foundations? Would you recommend them? If not, what would you recommend instead?

Nyx Haul #1

Thursday, 14 January 2016

Highlight + Contour Stick (Universal) / Jumbo Eye Pencil (Milk) / Soft Matte Lip Cream (Antwerp and Ibiza)

Way back in November I saw a post on Facebook alerting me to the fact that NYX makeup is now sold in Boots. I wasn't aware until that point, and I have had my eye on NYX for a long time. I personally watch a fair amount of American Beauty Vloggers, and as such became aware of NYX through their 'Face Awards' that they do every year. During these 'Face Awards' beauty vloggers create makeup looks based around a certain brief, and if they are lucky enough to get through the first few rounds then they start receiving products from the sponsors to assist them with their looks. With the whole competition being run by NYX it is no surprise that they send the beauty vloggers a tonne of stuff for them to play around with. It was whilst watching a participant unbox their NYX goodies that I realised how decent and affordable the brand was, and in that moment I knew I had to have some. Anyway flash forward to November, and as soon as I saw that Boots now stock NYX I made an order. Unfortunately Boots didn't have one of the items I wanted instock so I ended up ordering from Feel Unique.

The first product on my wishlist was one of the NYX contour sticks. I have been trying to get into contouring for the longest time now, and I've been looking at a tonne of cream contour palettes. Then I came across this, and thought rather than carrying around a palette in my makeup bag, having this one little stick for both Highlighting and contouring would be so useful, and at £10 it was budget friendly. Seeing as none of my local stores have a stand for NYX, I couldn't go in and swatch the colours to decide which to go for. It comes in four colours, light, medium, dark, and universal. I honestly had no idea which would suit me, so I decided to go for universal, which as the colour name suggests, should suit most skin types. I haven't gotten around to using this yet, but when swatching it did feel very creamy and also blended very well.

Another product that was high up on the list was the Jumbo eye pencil in Milk. I personally think it's so difficult to find a decent and true white eye pencil, so when I saw a Youtuber using this, I knew I had to have it. I have seen this little pencil used in so many different ways on Youtube, but one of the ways I am most interested in testing, is using this as a base for bright eyeshadow. When swatching this was another really creamy product and glided onto my skin, something which is very desirable for pencils that are used on the eye, as you don't want to press so hard it feels like your eyeball might explode... At £5 this is another budget friendly purchase, and one I can't wait to use alongside my Urban Decay Electric Palette...

Last but not least I decided to try some of their soft matte lip creams. My all time favourite lip products are the Bourjous Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks. They are so easy to apply, and last really well on the lips. I have seen a lot of people post that NYX soft matte lip creams are some of the best matte liquid lipsticks for their price range, so I knew that these had to be on the order. Unfortunately I somehow managed to pick the two colours that look the most similar... *facepalm* Originally I had wanted to but Ibiza and Transylvania, but the latter was out of stock, so I went for Antwerp, not really realising how similar the two were... Ibiza is a slightly darker pink out of the two, but overall they are fairly similar. I can't mark NYX down for this though because this was my own stupid mistake. These again glided on really nicely, and felt very similar to my favourite Bourjous versions, they also have a really lovely vanilla scent. At £5.50 each, I definitely think these are worth an investment if you like matte liquid lipsticks. I can't comment on how they last yet as again I have not had the chance to give them a go.

So there you have it, my first NYX purchases, I'm sure of many. Do you own any NYX makeup, if so what is your favourite product of theirs?

Kiko Dazzling Highlighter

Monday, 11 January 2016

A few months back I went to an event at The Oracle in Reading and one of the stores we got to visit for the event was Kiko. If you want to read more of what we got up to then please read that post here. At the time of the event I didn't have a lot of money, but there were so many products that I wanted to buy, and I knew I couldn't leave empty handed to I chose one product to take away with me.

That product was the Dazzling Highlighter in Bright Rose from the Cosmic Starlets collection, which I believe was their 2015 Christmas collection. At the time I purchased the highlighter it cost me £6.90, which I personally don't think is that much for such a pretty product. Although these highlighters were put into the January sale, on the website they are not currently available but you still may be able to get your paws on one of these if you pop into your local Kiko store, no guarantee's though as they seem to have been really popular.

I must report that my highlighter is actually broken... I kept it to where on Christmas day, and I opened it on Christmas morning and the product literally fell out of the stick, which I was not best pleased about. I did try and take this back to exchange when I went to Kiko in January, but they had already sold out by that time. So instead of getting a refund I decided I liked the product enough to forgive them and keep it, it was only £6.90. The above swatch really doesn't do the colour justice, it's a lovely pale pink colour, and is so shimmery. The formula itself is really creamy and you don't have to press to hard to make the product glide onto your face. It also blends really nicely, which I would love to have gotten a picture of, but I was worried my camera wouldn't pick it up, seeing as it had problems with the swatch!

I really wish I had written about this product at the time I bought it, to give you all a chance to go and buy it, because it really is beautiful, and is definitely my favourite highlighter that I own.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite highlighter is, I'd love some more recommendations to try!

Lush Christmas 2015

Monday, 9 November 2015

I always feel very lucky when I am invited to blogger events, especially as I feel as though my is still very small, and going to these events always make you feel very special. When I got the email from Lush to invite me to their Christmas 2015 event I knew I would have to attend.

So yesterday at 5:30pm the shutters opened and myself and some other local bloggers were let into the store after hours. There were plenty of staff around to help us and to show us the Christmas products and answer our questions about any of them, and also demonstrate any that we particularly wanted to see!

It was honestly so difficult for me to control myself and not buy one of everything, but I managed to keep within the budget I set myself, which I was very proud of. Here are some of my favourites from the Christmas collection this year:

The Magic of Christmas Bubble Wand.

This is the first bubble wand I have ever purchased from Lush, as I have always felt like the sticks they come on are a little bit flimsy. However the magic of Christmas has been formed around a cinnamon stick, which supports the bubble bar very well. This bar is full of cinnamon and cloves meaning to me it smells exactly like Christmas.

Star Dust Bath Bomb

The star shaped bath product of last year was covered in silver glitter, and had a more citrus' smell to it. This year's star shaped bath product is much more like a bath bomb and is vanilla and rosewood scented. I have also been informed by Lush staff that this turns your bath water a lovely blue colour, and what with that being my favourite colour I couldn't pass it up!

Bar Humbug Bubble Bar

This dark purple treat smells like liquorice, but at the same time is very sweet. Purple is another of my favourite colours, and I can imagine nothing more relaxing than laying in a deep purple bath of sweet smelling liquorice!

Yog Nog Bath Bomb

My absolute favourite product from Lush Christmas 2014 was the Yog Nog soap, then this year I have been lucky enough that Lush have decided to make a bath bomb of the same scent. With Soya milk and Shea butter in the centre, this not only smells delicious, almost like toffee, but it leaves your skin feeling silky soft.

So there are my top picks from the 2015 Christmas selection, don't forget to keep an eye out for my haul of everything I purchased coming up next week! Also let me know in the comments what your favourite is from the collection this year...
