Friday Favourites #16

Friday 31 July 2015

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have had a splendid working week, mine has been rather chilled by all accounts, and as such I have stumbled across some internet beauties that I decided I simply must share!

Sometimes Tumblr delivers a one liner that is so brilliant that it could make you snort milk out of your nostrils... Not that I've ever done that!

Someone posted a brilliant photoset on Facebook of what it would be like if video game situations were in real life... This one in particular made me chuckle!

This video of a man playing with his cat went viral on Facebook this week! It's just too cute... I've never seen a cat play like that before, have you?

This is one girls application to work on an interpreter programme in Austin... She saw what she wanted and she went for it, this is honestly one of the best things I have seen in a long time!

What have you been enjoying on the internet this week?

Gaming Diaries #5: iPhone Games I have been Playing

Thursday 30 July 2015

World's Biggest Picture Cross
I happened to stumble across this Picture cross app, and it is honestly so addictive! It's a puzzle game where you have to fill in a grid based on the numbers on both sides, which then reveals a picture! I'm really not explaining this very well, but trust me, it's pretty cool! The only thing that bugs me about this is playing it on my tiny iPhone screen, with the bigger grids it's sometimes difficult to fill in the tiny squares, and I accidentally end up doing the wrong ones... Considering it's free it's certainly worth a look...

Dog Hotel
I actually downloaded this app ages ago, but it's feeds my love of dogs, considering I'm currently living in a place where I can't keep a dog of my own! You basically take care of people's dogs for them depending on their needs. Some need training, and others just need a little bit of love and attention! Again this is another free app, so if you love dogs, and simulation games, then you will definitely love this one...

Cooking Dash 2016
If you are a fan of Time Management games then you will have no doubt come up across Cooking Dash as there are a multitude of Cooking Dash games. This one see's you on a TV cooking show, serving up dishes to hungry customers! There are several different restaurants that you progress through and each has a different cuisine, and therefore different recipe's for you to make. This is a great little game to pass the time during long car journey's as there are so many levels... and guess what, it's free!!

What iPhone games have you been enjoying recently?

Wishlist Wednesday: More books?

Wednesday 29 July 2015

Lord knows that I don't NEED anymore books, and yet whenever I am out I cannot seem to help but wander into a bookshop and start writing a lists of books that I must possess as soon as humanly possible... Does everyone do this? I feel like sure a horder... As I type sitting beside me is a stack of at least 20 books that are still on my 'to read' list and yet I find myself putting the above books into my Amazon basket... Now I know the saying, 'Never judge a book by it's cover' but I fear it is the beautiful designs on these covers that caught me up in the first place! Must... resist... buying...

Bronze Eye Look featuring Lush Eye Jewels

Tuesday 28 July 2015

A couple of months ago I gave my first impressions on the Lush Eye Jewels which I purchased on my first trip up to the London Oxford Street Store and I was seriously impressed. One month later and here I am finally getting around to making a tutorial with these beauties. To see the look I created you can either watch the video below, or scroll ahead to the write up!

To create this look I used three Eye Jewels, which unfortunately I do not know the names of, and as these are an Oxford street exclusive I am unable to look them up on the website but I will describe them the best I can:
  • White Shimmer: I believe this is the lightest shade available and it's really glowy.
  • Gold: This is a gold shimmery colour without glitter (there is another with glitter).
  • Copper: This is a really lovely shimmery orangey copper colour.
Here is how I created the look:
  1. Start off with an eye shadow primer that will help these colours stick.
  2. Use the White Shimmer all over the lid right up to the brow bone as a base, blending out with your finger.
  3. Take the gold and draw this only onto the lid, then using a flat eye shadow brush blend it and make sure you are happy with the shape.
  4. Using the copper colour draw this onto the outer corner and slightly up into the crease, then blend this out using a pencil brush.
  5. Also with a pencil brush take the Copper colour half way along the lower lash line, connecting to the outer corner.
  6. Take the gold again and use it on the lower lash line from the inner corner, blending it where it meets the copper.
  7. Go back to the White Shimmer shade and concentrate this on the inner corners.
  8. Using your favourite eye liner create a wing, then coat your lashes with your favourite mascara, then you are done!
Please let me know in the comments whether you have used the Lush Eye Jewels, and of course let me know what you think about the look!

Movie Mondays: They just don't make 'em anymore...

Monday 27 July 2015

Tim and I have been watching an awful lot of Netflix recently, and last night we decided to watch one of my favourite Nicolas Cage films, National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Now I'm a massive fan of Nicolas Cage, especially when he can be seen having a rage fit in a film, and this film is no exception!

What I like to much about the National Treasure films is the element of discovery and a secret history that very few are aware of, it's a kind of film that simply just isn't made any more. When I think of my favourite films that fall into this category I'm thinking of The Mummy, and Indiana Jones, and really I can't think of a single film that was released within the last few years that has followed the same pattern as these great 'treasure seeking' films... I mean please correct me if I am wrong!

You know what I think it's a huge shame, because there is just something about these films that makes me feel like a kid again and reignites my imagination. I don't know about you but I just can't seem to tear my eyes away when watching...

Anyway, back to Book of Secrets... The reason it peaks my interest so much it the fact that it creates this world where prominent figures (including the queen I might add), had some sort of huge secret that is covering up a huge treasure (in this case an entire city made of gold). Nic's character has to break into NOT ONLY Buckingham Palace, but also The Oval Office in the White house... oh and I forgot to mention he has to kidnap the President too... It's just insanity, but somehow they make it believable... Obviously not in the way you think it actually happened, but more in the way that you are so invested in finding the treasure! You too become a treasure hunter! That is ultimately what is the best about these films, you feel like you are along for the ride... and in my opinion, that's the most awesome thing a film can do!

Have you seen Book of Secrets, let me know what you thought!

Sum Up Sunday #22

Sunday 26 July 2015

Top left to bottom right: Tapir makeup, Mermaid Shirt, Falsies, Sunshine Selfie, Pictures from little ones, Brighton Pier, Organising my Lush stuff, A lovely Lush bath, Car Journey selfie.

A few weeks have passed since my last Sum Up Sunday, and they have certainly been interesting ones!

If you read this blog often then you will know that Tim and I went to Brighton last Sunday, and had an amazing day. We had a look round the shops... went to the beach... had fun on the pier... and ended up having a lovely meal at Smokey's. If you want to see more about our trip then you can check it out here.

Other than that I have been working hard trying to get my website up and running so that I can FINALLY launch my career as a self-employed makeup artist... I am applying for jobs in the mean time, but will start properly advertising my services once my website is up!

Also in the last few weeks I got the news that my sister and I have been accepted as volunteers at Summer in the City, the London based Youtube gathering, that we have attended for the past few years. This year was the first year we applied to volunteer and we couldn't be more excited for it to be honest! I vlogged last years event if you want to take a look at it, but it's essentially a gathering for fans and creators, and there are meetups, panels and even performances from some Youtube musicians! I'm mostly excited to meet like minded people that are as obsessed with Youtube as I am! If you are going to SITC then please let me know in the comments as I would love to meet up!

Reading: Evil in Return by Elena Forbes
Listening To: Summer playlists on Spotify
Playing: Star Stable (another obsession has returned)
Feeling: Excited for all I have planned in August
Looking Forward To: Summer in the City!!

Beauty Besties: Beauty I wish to Improve on

Saturday 25 July 2015

Happy Saturday every one and welcome back to Beauty Besties, where each week I link up with my lovely blog friend Kerrie of Pish, Posh and Polish. Kerrie chose this weeks theme which is 'Beauty Bucketlist' of things you wish you could improve on, don't forget to check out her post here.

Now there was really only one thing that sprung to my mind with this topic... my hair! Now don't get me wrong there are things I love about my hair, mainly it's colour. However I struggle so much to style my hair in any way shape or form... If you'd like to know more please watch the video below, or skip ahead if you prefer.

Like most people I have a Pinterest board dedicated to beautiful hair and hairstyles, all of which I wish I could recreate on my own unruly mop... like this for example:

From now on, once a month I will be trying out a Pinterest hair tutorial on myself, in the hopes that it broadens my hair horizons, and that I too can hair gorgeous hair that takes people's breath away! Well not literally... The post will go live the first Tuesday of every month (fingers crossed).

If you have any suggestions for Pinterest Hair tutorials then please comment them below and I will have a look through.

Friday Favourites #16

Friday 24 July 2015

I love the idea of actors playing pranks on each other on set... This made me giggle so much!

I've never seen Parks and Recreation, but the more I see quotes from Chris Pratt's character the more I want to watch it!

Sometimes I really love Tumblr and the things that they come up with... This post made me laugh so hard, let me know in the comments whether you get it or not!

Ahhhhh lookalikes... there is literally nothing better than a good old case of mistaken identity...

Jenna Marbles did a video recently where her 'dogs' drew their lives... and it is honestly the funniest thing I have seen in a long time... You'll only get it if you are already a fan of her... If not it is still worth watching!

What have you been enjoying this week on the internet?

Gaming Diaires #4: My Return to Star Stable

Thursday 23 July 2015

Way back when in February was the first time that I posted about Star Stable, and you can read that post here. I spent months playing that game and then around late April I just stopped. I don't know why, there wasn't a particular reason, I guess I just had too much going on at the time, and Star Stable slipped to the back of my mind... However I received an email the other day to remind me that my subscription was due to renew, and for the first time in ages, I logged back on.

Since then Star Stable and I have made up, and I've logged on everyday!

The first thing I did when I logged back on was to go and check on my lovely horses, and I have four of them... Last time I wrote about Star Stable I only had my starter horse Sapphireice (second from the left) since then my collection has grown. Now trust me I have wanted to buy ALL THE HORSES, but when I started expanding my collection I made myself a rule. I'm not allowed to buy a new horse until all my current horses are the max level of 15, that way I don't just go out and by all of them because I have to spend time levelling up each horse...

My current horses are as follows:
  • Wildspirit - Level 15 - Andalusian: Named Wildspirit because he reminds me of the horse Spirit from that movie 'Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron'.
  • Sapphreice - Level 15 - Starter horse: Such a cutie, and will always be my secret fav...
  • Daisybelle - Level 10 - Arabian: Literally has the shiniest coat in all of the lands...
  • Stormblaze - Level 15 - Jorvik Pony: A little pony with a hell of a lot of heart!

Seeing as it's Summer time, I thought I should go and buy myself a new summer outfit, and I instantly fell in love with this summer dress. I paired it with some white riding pants, and summer shoes. I still have yet to fins a summer hat to go with this ensemble though...

One of the first things I did once I logged in again was a quest to unlock the Fort Pinta Beach Race, which has you diving into the ocean to swim with your horse. It definitely makes you feel like you are on holiday, that's for sure!

That's what I've been up to this week gaming wise. Let me know in the comments what you have been playing!

Wishlist Wednesday: Disney Jewellery

Wednesday 22 July 2015

Just anyone else have those days where you just spend hours and hours scrolling through Etsy, looking at all the amazing things you wish you could afford? It can't be just me right?

For some reason I have been thinking a lot about Disney inspired jewellery and the fact that I currently own NOT A SINGLE piece of Disney Jewellery, got me to thinking maybe I should look some up...

A Day Out in Brighton...

Tuesday 21 July 2015

I happened to mention to Tim the other day that we hadn't yet managed to do anything for summer, so we decided maybe we should spend a day at the beach. I have wanted to visit Brighton for as long as I can remember and despite holidaying ever year in my youth only a short while up the coast from it, I had never been!

Sunday we decided on the spur of the moment to just up and go down there, so armed with a picnic blanket and a towel we set off. There was so much that I wanted to see that we didn't manage, so we have decided to go again for a whole weekend next time!

I was so excited to get my beach on during our car journey!

Tim and I basking in the sunlight, you know there is no one I would rather spend a day with than him...

We wandered on over to Choccywoccydoodah and the cakes on display were seriously amazing, I fell in love with this white rose and cherub cake... If I ever get married then I want something like this.

They also had these cute child's birthday cakes with little ducks on, how impressive are these?

We managed to wander onto the pier and spent some time in the arcade, I managed to win myself a stuffed Sven the Reindeer (Frozen), much to Tim's surprise as he said he has NEVER seen anyone win on a claw machine before.

All in all I had an amazing day, have you ever been to Brighton?

Music Monday's: I Predict an Earthquake Up in Here...

Monday 20 July 2015

Welcome back to Music Monday's, this week is all about a song that always makes me feel strong, powerful, and that makes me dance without fail!

I remember the first time I heard this song, I was instantly drawn to it, I'm not sure whether it's the awesome bassline, or Tinie Tempah's rap part, but I was immediately hooked. So much so that for a few weeks I listened to this song on repeat, and nothing else...

I was still obsessed with this song throughout my time at University, and I remember requesting this whenever I was out at the union or a club, much to the dismay of my uni friends, who had very different tastes in music. I remember one night the song came on when we were out and I forced my best friend to dance with me as no one else would. I was throwing some serious shapes and getting really into it, but she was just bobbing along beside me, literally counting the seconds until the song ended! I really enjoyed myself though...

Do you have any memories of this song?

Beauty Besties: Nail Focus

Saturday 18 July 2015

Happy Saturday everyone, and welcome back to Beauty Besties, where every week I link up with my lovely blog friend Kerrie from Pish, Posh and Polish, don't forget to check out her post here! This week the theme is close to both of our hearts, it's Nail Art. Kerrie and I actually met through our mutual love of Nail Polish, back in the days when I started blogging, I was writing a Nail Blog, just as Kerrie still does today. Although she writes about a lot more than just nail polish. When it came to thinking about what I was going to do for this theme I had to look no further than my new obsession, False Nails! Please check out the video below, or continue to the bottom of the post where I explain my steps...

I have always wanted longer nails! I'm one of those people that have annoying nails that will only grow to a certain length (no matter what I do), before they start breaking and peeling. Unfortunately that length is never as long as I want them to be. I have thought about having Acrylic nails, but can't justify spending that amount of money on my nails at the moment, especially as I have at least 200 nail polishes sitting in a box in the dark! So I thought a good inbetween would be stick on nails, although in the past I have found they don't seem to last long on me, though at long last I seem to have cracked it!

These are stress free and no mess, because I actually paint them before I even think about sticking them on my nails, this means I can give them a proper drying time, and ultimately the finish is better and lasts longer. So here's how I do it:
  1. Lay out all the nails I will be using in two lines, one for each hand.
  2. Using sellotape I carefully stick the back of each nail onto a cotton bud, making them easier to paint.
  3. I paint the nails giving them drying time in between each coat before allowing them to dry properly for 24 hours.
  4. I stick the nail on.
  5. I cut it to my desired length with false nail cutters.
  6. Then I carefully begin shaping it with normal nail trimmers.
  7. Finally I file the edges until I am happy with the shape.
That's all there is to it! My last set of falsies lasted a full week, and probably would have gone longer had I not taken them off for this post... I did have a mishap where the thumbnail fell off of my right hand, but I attribute that to the fact my right thumb is probably my most used appendage!

Let me know in the comments: What do you think of false nails?

24 Before 24 Update #2

Thursday 16 July 2015

How are we half way through July? I swear the last time I really looked at the date was March... I have no idea where the time has gone between then and now... Either way I was laying in bed last night, and right before I was about to fall asleep, I remember my 24 Before 24 list, and thought I should probably check up on it! If you want to see my first update which I wrote in March then click here.

On my last count I had completed two goals:

  1. Become a qualified makeup artist...
  2. Be more social...
Before I go into how I've gotten on with the other goals I just want to mention something briefly that is related to me becoming a qualified makeup artist. I am in the process of setting myself up as a freelance makeup artist!!! Which is really scary but also super exciting to me as it's what I have wanted to do ever since I left uni. Now I know that I wouldn't even be able to begin thinking about doing this if it weren't for Tim, and I am forever in his debt... On a lighter note I wanted to share with you some of the work that I have done since I graduated in March...

So onto my progress with the list...

Finally Get My Career On Track: STARTED

As mentioned above I am in the progress of setting myself up as a freelance makeup artist, and I am trying to build up my portfolio and list of clients at the moment.

Beat My Time On The Race For Life 5K: FAILED

I'm ashamed to admit that this year I just really didn't get around to doing the Race For Life. By the time I thought about it there was no time left to sign up, and I wouldn't have been able to raise any money, but I have my eye on this for next year!

Read 25 Books: IN PROGRESS

By my last update I had only read 4 of my 25 books... I'm ashamed to say that the count currently is only 7... and all three of the new additions are ones I have read this week... really need to get my bum in gear for this one! By my calculations I need to read 3 a month from now going forward to reach my goal.

Reboot My Youtube Channel: COMPLETED

I am pleased to say that I have posted at least one video a week for the last few months, and honestly I have loved it. I hope you guys are enjoying watching my videos as much as I enjoy making them, feel free to check out my channel here.

Visit Three New Places in The UK: IN PROGRESS

I am proud to say that I have visited one new place that I had never been to this year, Sunderland! Now I know you are all thinking that Sunderland isn't your typical tourist destination and you would be right. I was there doing the hair and makeup for a short film for a whole week! The whole cast and crew stayed in a house together and it was amazing, I really felt as though I made some friends for life there! Here are some pictures:

Go Sober: COMPLETED

Now I know in my last post I didn't feel as though there was an 'end' to this goal, but I haven't had an alcoholic drink in almost six months, and I honestly don't feel the need to, so I'd say that's a roaring success!

Spend More Time With Maizey: IN PROGRESS

I have probably spent more time with my dog this year than I have in many years, the way she lights up when I go and visit her really makes my day. Recently I had a bit of a tough time with my depression, and she was the light of my life during that rather dark time. I try and go and see her at least once a week, considering it's an hour and a half round trip to get out to her. Whenever I do see her I like to snap a cute picture of her!

Blog as Often as I Can: IN PROGRESS

I think my blogging this year has been a lot more consistent than it ever really has been. It's been a real outlet for me when I've wanted to escape the rest of the world, and I love focusing my mind and putting together these posts for you guys to read. I think it helps that I didn't give myself a set number of posts to try and do a week/month, I just know that I will blog whenever I have some spare time, and that seems to keep me going.

Have you got a list of goals? Let me know in the comments...

Basingstoke Lush: Summer Blogger Event!

Sunday 12 July 2015

I was lucky enough to be invited along to the first ever Lush blogger event in Basingstoke, and it was all about being Summer Ready! There were seven bloggers in total, myself, Hannah, Sophie, Katie, Angi, Sam, and Dawn, so it was nice to meet some local girls! I was also surprised to see Ryan working in the Basingstoke store, as I first met him in the Reading store at some of their blogger events, which you can read about here and here

Here are all the products that we talked through:

  • The Sunblock: This clever little block is designed to be used in the shower and is SPF10 to give you that initial protection from the harmful UV rays! However you can also use it as you would one of the Lush massage bars and rub it into your skin after showering. It comes in a block of three, so you have three applications worth in the one block.
  • Sesame Suntan Lotion: This product smells so ridiculously good that I almost want to eat it... If you are a fan of peanut butter then you will love this lotion. It has SPF 10 and can be reapplied throughout the day.
  • Powdered Sunshine: This product seems seriously strange to me, it's a powder that you use like a suntan lotion... and it has SPF15!!! How ridiculous is that?
  • Million Dollar Moisturiser: I have heard about this product before, but I never realised that it was also SPF30! I know that when I'm going out into the sun I always forget to worry about my face, so having an SPF in my moisturiser would be really good for me.
  • Ocean Salt Body Scrub: I was assured that this product it amazing as a body scrub, the sea salt is perfect for getting rid of all your horrible dead skin!
  • Sea Salt Hair Spray: We were given an amazing demonstration of this product by the lovely Zoe. She showed how you can use the salt spray to put volume in your hair, and how it can also be used to achieve those perfect beachy waves!
  • Sunnyside Bubble Bar: This little guy is seriously delicious, busting with loads of orange scents, and it's covered in gold glitter, turning your bath water into literal sunshine!
  • Big Blue Bath Bomb: With sea salt and seaweed, this bath bomb turns your water into the sea, well a much more relaxing and better smelling version of the sea anyway...

We were also lucky enough to be able to make our own little Big Blue to take home with us... It's always great fun when you get to make your own bath bombs at the Lush events, and it's always so satisfying watching it bubble away knowing that you have made it yourself!!

To top it all off at the end of the night we were given a goody bag packed full of products, if you want to see what we got in those then check the video out below!

Beauty Besties: Inspired by Nature

Saturday 11 July 2015

Welcome back to Beauty Besties, where every week I link up with the wonderful Kerrie from Pish, Posh and Polish. This week we decided to do makeup inspired by nature, so don't forget to go and check out Kerrie's post! I decided to do a makeup look inspired by my favourite animal, the Tapir!!

I don't know what it is about them that I find some damn cute, I just do, from their little trunks right down to the fact that their babies are covered in pretty markings to camouflage them!

This is the look that I created, and I was pretty pleased with the overall look and I only had a vague idea about what I wanted to create. I did film a video of me creating this look which you'll find below, but if you would prefer to read about how I did this look then please skip ahead to that!

All you need to create this look is:
  • White/Cream Eyeshadow
  • Dark Brown Eyeshadow
  • Black Eyeshadow
  • Liquid Eyeliner Pen
  • Mascara
  • Primer
  • Reference photo of a Tapir
  1. You want to start by priming your eyelids, so that the colour will stick better to them.
  2. Then start by placing your white/cream eyeshadow in the centre of your eyelids, blending it slightly to the outer edges.
  3. Then using your brown eyeshadow and a small brush, start to outline the darker areas of the tapir, following your reference photo...
  4. Blend some of the brown colour lightly into the crease to complete the outline of the Tapir.
  5. Using your black eyeshadow go over the dark brown areas in your inner and outer corners being careful not to go over the lines you have already created.
  6. Using your white/cream colour go over the centre of your lids.
  7. Then taking your liner pen, line your upper lash line, extending the inner corner down to create a slight trunk shape.
  8. Create a line parallel to the one in your inner corner going up to your lower lash line, then line your lower lash line, staying as close to the lashes as possible.
  9. Coat your lashes with your favourite mascara.
  10. Use your favourite concealer to cover up any fallout from the eyeshadows!
What do you think of the look I created?

Friday Favourites #14

Friday 10 July 2015

This costume is seriously awesome, and if my friend made a costume like this I would want them to wear it 24/7... seriously...

This came up on my Facebook feed and seriously made me chuckle... plus who doesn't love a good snap of a pug?

How cute is this picture that I managed to snap of Maizey Moo when Tim and I walked her the other day? I couldn't believe that she actually came over and sat still for this picture, considering she was running in a field off of the lead... Normally she just ignores me! She's such a cutie, and I certainly miss giving her cuddles every day...

Tim and I were just minding our own business walking through town the other day when we were almost brutally attacked by a T-Rex!!! Only kidding, but it was pretty cool to come across this...

Let me know in the comments what your favourites are from this week...

Gaming Diaries #3

Thursday 9 July 2015

I wondered how long it would be before Hidden Object Games came back into my life... They are an obsession of mine to be honest, something about the creepy story lines and puzzles just really gets me... So much so that I normally finish one of these games in one sitting, because I get so obsessed with the story!

'Dark Parables: Queen of Sands is the ninth game in the Dark Parablesfranchise. The game takes place in Provence, France. As the Fairytale Detective, we must investigate nightmarish creatures laying siege to the town of Montafleur and uncover the secrets of the Queen of Sands, herself.
The game is based on the mythological figure of the Sandman and the French fairytale Beauty and the Beast'
This was the second ever Dark Parables game I had ever played, however as I haven't played them in order I realised there were a small notes about the other games, but overall that didn't really effect my experience of the game. Although I think if I play another Dark Parables game I would go back and make sure that I played them in order. The puzzles were good, they weren't too difficult, which sometimes annoys me with these kinds of games! Overall this one was a great game...
'All the adults have vanished. Is it a child's dream, or nightmare? You wake on the morning of your birthday to find that things aren't at all the way you pictured for your sweet 16. Can you find out what's happened overnight to turn your world upside down? From Elephant Games comes the continuation of the popular and edgy Surface series. Unlock the Secret Room, where you'll find more hidden-object and mini-game play. But be careful what you wish for...'
This was the first time I encountered a 'Surface' game, and this is the seventh in the series. Thankfully though each game seems to stand on it's own, as there wasn't anything in this that I missed by having not played the other games. This one was much creepier than the Dark Parables one, which makes the game all the better for me. The puzzles in this one were great, again not to difficult, but difficult enough to give your brain a workout! I really enjoyed this one, and I am going to be going back through and playing all the surface games when I get a chance!
'Vendel Games is back once again to prove that nothing quenches the fiery Spirit of Revenge! This time, you’ll have to follow a maze of palace intrigue to root out the truth. Play as a maid of honor at Queen Elizabeth the First’s court, with none other than the mischievous Francis Drake as your sidekick! But this game’s not just for history buffs. Bring your sense of humor and quest for adventure on this fun trip into the Elizabethan past!'
Another first for me in 'Spirit of Revenge' this is the second instalment in the series, but as with the 'Surface' game it was a stand alone game, and you don't really miss anything for not playing them in order. This one was probably my favourite of the games that I have played this week, it had the perfect amount of ghostly-ness, with the right balance of puzzles and hidden object areas. I would definitely go back and play the first game in this series.
Have you ever played any Hidden Object Games, if so which is your favourite?

Brand Focus: Essence Makeup

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Ever since I found out that Essence makeup was going into Wilkinson's stores my interested was immediately peaked. Every time since then when I have gone in Wilko's I stop by the Essence stand and have a good old browse, however they never seemed to have the item I actually wanted in stock... Then I found out I could order online from them, and I got really excited! I decided to try and get a full face of makeup for as cheaply as possible, and I wasn't disappointed! If you would like to see the full makeup look I created and my full opinions then please watch the video below, or if you prefer I have completed a write-up underneath the video, enjoy!

1. Soft Touch Mousse Makeup in 01 Matte Sand: This was hands down one of the stand out products for me. It gave me a lovely base and didn't feel heavy in the slightest, which is perfect for the hotter weather that we have been having recently...

2. 16h Stay All Day Concealer in 10 Beige: This is a very similar product to my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, however it doesn't feel as heavy as the collection one. Which again for this time of year is perfect!

3. Pure Skin Anti-Spot Compact Powder in 01: I was intrigued by this product in particular as I am currently having the worst breakout of my adult life, obviously having only used this product once I cannot comment on it's spot fighting abilities. However it does have a distinctive smell, which I assume is the anti-spot complex, and it certainly mattifies my skin and takes away any excess shine that I have. I guess only time will tell whether the anti-spot powder works...

4. Sun Club Matte Bronzing Powder in Blondes: This was another one of my favourite products, I have been struggling to find a bronzer that looks natural on me, and this certainly exceeded my expectations. I'm also a big fan of it because it is matte, I'm not a big fan of shimmery bronzers.

5. Silky Touch Blush in 90: This is a really lovely light pink bronzer with a slight golden shimmer in it, perfect for summer.

6. All About Sunrise Eyeshadow Palette: This comes with six shimmery shades, and they are surprisingly pigmented, although not my favourite eyeshadows in the world, they did pretty well.

7. Make Me Brow: This product is a dupe for Benefit's Gimme Brow, having used both personally I can see no difference in the finish of either. Considering this one only cost £2 against the £18.50 for the Benefit version, I would go for this one. It made my brows defined and natural looking, which is all you can ask for in a product like this.

8. 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen: This is very similar to my Makeup Revolution liner pen, however one end of the pen is more like a 'marker' and is thicker, which is perfect for lining the upper lash line. Then the other thin line is perfect for creating the winged look I like.

9. Lash Princess Mascara: I was surprised to find that the brush from this mascara was identical to the brush of the Makeup Revolution Viper mascara that I tested out a couple of weeks ago. The brush itself is quite confusing and I'm still not sure whether you are supposed to use the curved or the flat end. However the formula of this one was SO much better than the viper, and it did give my lashes a bit of curl that lasted, unlike it's cheaper counterpart.

10. Lipliner in 06: I was happy to find that this liner was very smooth and creamy and wasn't at all 'scratchy' on my lips, and the colour is gorgeous.

11. Lipstick in 05: The lipstick went perfectly with the liner, which I was happy with considering I only had online pictures to go from. This lip colour is a little darker than what I would normally wear, but other than that the formula was fine, and wasn't drying in the slightest.

All in all, I was really impressed with everything that I tried, as mentioned above my favourite products were the bronzer and the foundation, I can definitely see myself fitting these into my daily routine.

Have you tried anything from Essence, if so what is your favourite product?
