Lush Christmas 2015

Monday, 9 November 2015

I always feel very lucky when I am invited to blogger events, especially as I feel as though my is still very small, and going to these events always make you feel very special. When I got the email from Lush to invite me to their Christmas 2015 event I knew I would have to attend.

So yesterday at 5:30pm the shutters opened and myself and some other local bloggers were let into the store after hours. There were plenty of staff around to help us and to show us the Christmas products and answer our questions about any of them, and also demonstrate any that we particularly wanted to see!

It was honestly so difficult for me to control myself and not buy one of everything, but I managed to keep within the budget I set myself, which I was very proud of. Here are some of my favourites from the Christmas collection this year:

The Magic of Christmas Bubble Wand.

This is the first bubble wand I have ever purchased from Lush, as I have always felt like the sticks they come on are a little bit flimsy. However the magic of Christmas has been formed around a cinnamon stick, which supports the bubble bar very well. This bar is full of cinnamon and cloves meaning to me it smells exactly like Christmas.

Star Dust Bath Bomb

The star shaped bath product of last year was covered in silver glitter, and had a more citrus' smell to it. This year's star shaped bath product is much more like a bath bomb and is vanilla and rosewood scented. I have also been informed by Lush staff that this turns your bath water a lovely blue colour, and what with that being my favourite colour I couldn't pass it up!

Bar Humbug Bubble Bar

This dark purple treat smells like liquorice, but at the same time is very sweet. Purple is another of my favourite colours, and I can imagine nothing more relaxing than laying in a deep purple bath of sweet smelling liquorice!

Yog Nog Bath Bomb

My absolute favourite product from Lush Christmas 2014 was the Yog Nog soap, then this year I have been lucky enough that Lush have decided to make a bath bomb of the same scent. With Soya milk and Shea butter in the centre, this not only smells delicious, almost like toffee, but it leaves your skin feeling silky soft.

So there are my top picks from the 2015 Christmas selection, don't forget to keep an eye out for my haul of everything I purchased coming up next week! Also let me know in the comments what your favourite is from the collection this year...

Bronze Eye Look featuring Lush Eye Jewels

Tuesday, 28 July 2015

A couple of months ago I gave my first impressions on the Lush Eye Jewels which I purchased on my first trip up to the London Oxford Street Store and I was seriously impressed. One month later and here I am finally getting around to making a tutorial with these beauties. To see the look I created you can either watch the video below, or scroll ahead to the write up!

To create this look I used three Eye Jewels, which unfortunately I do not know the names of, and as these are an Oxford street exclusive I am unable to look them up on the website but I will describe them the best I can:
  • White Shimmer: I believe this is the lightest shade available and it's really glowy.
  • Gold: This is a gold shimmery colour without glitter (there is another with glitter).
  • Copper: This is a really lovely shimmery orangey copper colour.
Here is how I created the look:
  1. Start off with an eye shadow primer that will help these colours stick.
  2. Use the White Shimmer all over the lid right up to the brow bone as a base, blending out with your finger.
  3. Take the gold and draw this only onto the lid, then using a flat eye shadow brush blend it and make sure you are happy with the shape.
  4. Using the copper colour draw this onto the outer corner and slightly up into the crease, then blend this out using a pencil brush.
  5. Also with a pencil brush take the Copper colour half way along the lower lash line, connecting to the outer corner.
  6. Take the gold again and use it on the lower lash line from the inner corner, blending it where it meets the copper.
  7. Go back to the White Shimmer shade and concentrate this on the inner corners.
  8. Using your favourite eye liner create a wing, then coat your lashes with your favourite mascara, then you are done!
Please let me know in the comments whether you have used the Lush Eye Jewels, and of course let me know what you think about the look!

Basingstoke Lush: Summer Blogger Event!

Sunday, 12 July 2015

I was lucky enough to be invited along to the first ever Lush blogger event in Basingstoke, and it was all about being Summer Ready! There were seven bloggers in total, myself, Hannah, Sophie, Katie, Angi, Sam, and Dawn, so it was nice to meet some local girls! I was also surprised to see Ryan working in the Basingstoke store, as I first met him in the Reading store at some of their blogger events, which you can read about here and here

Here are all the products that we talked through:

  • The Sunblock: This clever little block is designed to be used in the shower and is SPF10 to give you that initial protection from the harmful UV rays! However you can also use it as you would one of the Lush massage bars and rub it into your skin after showering. It comes in a block of three, so you have three applications worth in the one block.
  • Sesame Suntan Lotion: This product smells so ridiculously good that I almost want to eat it... If you are a fan of peanut butter then you will love this lotion. It has SPF 10 and can be reapplied throughout the day.
  • Powdered Sunshine: This product seems seriously strange to me, it's a powder that you use like a suntan lotion... and it has SPF15!!! How ridiculous is that?
  • Million Dollar Moisturiser: I have heard about this product before, but I never realised that it was also SPF30! I know that when I'm going out into the sun I always forget to worry about my face, so having an SPF in my moisturiser would be really good for me.
  • Ocean Salt Body Scrub: I was assured that this product it amazing as a body scrub, the sea salt is perfect for getting rid of all your horrible dead skin!
  • Sea Salt Hair Spray: We were given an amazing demonstration of this product by the lovely Zoe. She showed how you can use the salt spray to put volume in your hair, and how it can also be used to achieve those perfect beachy waves!
  • Sunnyside Bubble Bar: This little guy is seriously delicious, busting with loads of orange scents, and it's covered in gold glitter, turning your bath water into literal sunshine!
  • Big Blue Bath Bomb: With sea salt and seaweed, this bath bomb turns your water into the sea, well a much more relaxing and better smelling version of the sea anyway...

We were also lucky enough to be able to make our own little Big Blue to take home with us... It's always great fun when you get to make your own bath bombs at the Lush events, and it's always so satisfying watching it bubble away knowing that you have made it yourself!!

To top it all off at the end of the night we were given a goody bag packed full of products, if you want to see what we got in those then check the video out below!

First Impressions: Lush Eye Jewels

Thursday, 28 May 2015

I have something super exciting to show you guys today, I literally wanted to cry happy tears when I found these guys at the Lush Oxford street store! Introducing Eye Jewels, they are essentially made up of cocoa butter and pigment, and look like little crayons. They go on so smoothly and they are so easily blendable... I cannot recommend them highly enough. So if you want to see what they are like then watch the below video, I promise you will be lusting after them as soon as you see them!

If you'd like to see me do an eye look with these then please let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do.

Lush Oxford Street Shopping Trip

Thursday, 14 May 2015

I went up to London last week from training for my new job, and whilst I was there I simply could not resist going to Oxford street to visit the new LUSH store. After seeing numerous Youtube videos from my favourites about the new and exclusive products, I knew I had to visit!

Spread across three floors, there were so many goodies to see, all split into different sections to make it nice and easy for you to find everything you needed.

As well as the usual LUSH products that you know and love there are roughly 240 new exclusive products being sold only in the Lush Oxford Street Store! One of which is Comforter Shower Gel, which unfortunately they were sold out of so I could not get my hands on it...

Everything is set out so beautifully and you can see everything clearly. As expected everything smells amazing, and the new products fit in with the older product perfectly! I managed to pick up a few of the new pieces including the Lava Lamp Bath Bomb pictured above, which smells like oranges!

The stand that I was most excited and intrigued by was the makeup stand. There were a tonne of products that I have never seen before, and that I desperately wanted to buy! Starting with the lipstick blocks pictured on the left, they have several different colours in one block, and you simply wet a lipstick brush and use it on the colour you want. You can even mix colours from the block to make an entirely new shade.

Then there were the eye shadow pigments, which I think are available in all Lush stores, but I may be wrong. They come in several colours however there are four which are made from completely natural pigments, and these ones are beautiful... when dry they show as one colour, and then if you wet them they change colour right before your eyes, they are honestly gorgeous.

Finally and the product I am most excited about are the eye jewels! They are basically little wedges which you use kind of like eye crayons. They are made up of cocoa butter and pigment meaning they are actually really hydrating for your eyes too. I almost picked up all of these, but I managed to limit myself to just four of them which at £10 each made for a fairly expensive visit... I don't want to give away too much about these just yet though as I am planning to do a Youtube video on them very soon, so watch this space...

Honestly if you are heading up to London any time soon and you like Lush then you HAVE to visit Oxford Street... this store is seriously incredible. Although I would warn you to set yourself a budget, otherwise you will spend way more than you want to!

I was surprised to find that I have stuff in the box left over from last October! #LUSHEaster and #LUSHmothersday Event in Reading

Monday, 9 March 2015

I was lucky enough to again be invited to a blogger event at the LUSH store in Reading, this time showcasing their Easter and Mothers Day Range! The last event I went to was the Christmas one, whihc you can read all about here. This time there were a lot more bloggers there, including the lovely Becky from Becky Bedbug who I hadn't seen in over a year! It was lovely to catch up and also meet a few new bloggers, and a few I met at the Christmas Event last year!

The evening kicked off with an Easter Egg hunt, there were Golden Eggs hidden all over the store (as in the picture above) and we had to rush around putting as many in our basket as we could. I got 4, and the winners got 6 each, but I wasn't disappointed as it was all in the name of good fun!

The there were three stations set up throughout the store, one for fragrance, one for Easter, and one for Mothers Day, and we got to wander between the stations getting demonstrations of all the products. We got to meet some of the lovely stuff, some who I have met before and some I hadn't but cannot wait to speak to again! I was bowled over by the sheer amount of products that we were shown, and by all the delicious floral and sweet scents that really got me in the mood for spring! I actually went to the event with the intention of only buying the carrot soap, which I am obsessed with after using the Snowman Fun at Christmas which has the same scent, but as it turned out there were so many other products that I also wanted to try, so I ended up buying more... I'm saving that for a Haul video though so you'll have to wait and see what I got!

As usual with these events LUSH was kind enough to give us a goodie bag each, in which I was given:

  • Mother Superior Bubble Bar
  • Somewhere over the Rainbow soap
  • Prince Charming Shower Gel
  • Yummy Mummy Shower Gel
I'm always bowled away by how lovely and generous Lush are, and this event was no exception! Despite only buying a small portion of the range we were shown, I know full well I will be on my way back in store for more before they disappear!

My highlights from the event are definitely these four items pictured above, I bought 3/4 of them, and will be going back for the last one as soon as I have the cash. They are:
  • Fluffy Egg: Which smells like the amazingly popular Snow Fairy
  • Carrot Soap: Yes it smells like carrots but trust me it is amazing!
  • Dad's Garden: This is a lemon scented fragrance that had me sniffing myself all evening, it is divine...
  • Immaculate Eggception (Yellow): This amazing (and gigantic) bathbomb smells delicious, and you can also crack it to reveal either a cute bunny or chick, which is perfect for Easter. It also means you technically get two bath bombs, though trust me this is so huge that you could probably get 4/5 uses out of it!
Let me know in the comments below what your favourite Lush Easter product is, I love to hear from you!

Wednesday Wishlist: Hair Edition

Wednesday, 5 November 2014

From top left to bottom right:
  1. GHD V Lagoon Styler: I've always wanted my very own GHD's and this colour is just perfect for me.
  2. Tigi Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray: I have very, VERY fine hair, and therefore will do anything to help it out.
  3. Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash: I already own a Tangle Teezer and I am seriously in love with it, and am dying to add to my collection.
  4. Tigi Bed Head Epic Volume Shampoo and Conditioner: As mentioned above, I have fine hair, so I'm always on the look our for a decent Volume shampoo.
  5. Babyliss Hot Rollers: Again to add Volume to my hair, which tends to lay pretty flat.
  6. Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo: I'm in love with Batiste dry shampoo's, but ever since I heard that Lush has their own version, I have wanted to try it.
  7. Babyliss Pro Curl: I love curling my hair, and after seeing this reviewed on Youtube, I have wanted it ever since, maybe I'll get my hands on it one day...
  8. Lush Roots Scalp Treatment: I have an itchy scalp particularly the longer I leave my hair in between washes, the worse it gets. This scalp treatment looks interesting, and I really want to give it a go.
  9. Lush Marilyn Hair Mask: I always want to treat my hair like a star, and what better way to do that, than with this Hair Mask.

Lush Halloween and Christmas 2014

Saturday, 25 October 2014

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to attend the Lush Reading Halloween and Christmas Blogger Event, you can check out their Twitter here. I had been invited to an event last year but couldn't attend due to my car accident, so I was glad to finally make it to one. As you can see above we were spoiled with some lovely sparkling apple cider in glasses with raspberries. There was also sparkling lemon water, cranberry juice, and a lightly spiced tea on offer. As well as biscuits and chocolates!

We spent some time going through all of the Halloween and Christmas products, and I am in love with each and every one of them. I'm so glad that Lush releases Halloween products, as I find at this time of year Halloween often get's overshadowed by Christmas, and Halloween is my favourite time of year!

I was surprised by the sheer amount of products that we went through, this is only a small handful that I managed to capture pictures of. I realise most of these are bath bombs/melts, but those are my favourite Lush products, hence why I took a lot of photos of them. I really don't think there was a single product there that I saw and didn't like the smell of, another reason why I love Lush.

After passing all the products around and smelling them, we were all absolutely covered in glitter, but there was even more glitter to come!

We were also introduced to the Christmas Edition of Lush's Fun, which is a snowman building kit! It's carrot scented, and comes with all the colours you need to make your own little snowman. We were split into teams and given an allotted amount of time (the running time of 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman' from Frozen), and we had to make our own little snowman. I think ours look's slightly sinister...

We were also lucky enough to get hands on, and make TWO Lush products. The Cinders Bath Bomb, which features popping candy, and the Butterbear which has cocoa butter to nourish your skin! I have to admit it was pretty fascinating getting to see how the products are made, and it's exciting to know that I will be using something that I have made!

I honestly love all of the products that we saw and smelt, but there were definitely a few stand outs for me, and trust me it was hard to pick.

First up had to be the Northern Lights bath bomb. This one is similar to the Sparkler bath bomb and is baton shaped. It creates this amazing display of blue, purple and pink, and it smells really good. As the name suggests it's inspired by the Aurora Borealis. I couldn't resist picking one of these up after the event, and I'm saving it for a special occasion.

This little guy is The Christmas Hedgehog, and who could really resist the cuteness. He is a bubble bar and he is too adorable. To be honest I never really thought of Hedgehogs as being Christmassy, but I certainly do now!

This one actually took me by surprise, as I am not a fan of soap, which is why when I go to Lush I normally just walk past it. I won't be doing that any more, this soap has changed my mind. This is Yog Nog, a vegan take on a classic Egg Nog, although I'm not entirely 100% on what Egg Nog smells like, this soap smells like heaven. I don't know how to describe the scent, it's a touch of cinnamon and creamy goodness that screams Christmas to me. I honestly have not stopped thinking about this soap since leaving the event on Wednesday, I have to have it.

Finally to top the night off we got given a goody bag with a couple of random products from the Halloween/Christmas collection, which I will be doing a video about shortly so watch this space!

I just want to say a massive thank you Lush Reading for putting on an awesome night and making us ladies all feel welcome, I can't wait to see you all at the next event. Let me know in the comments which Lush Christmas product you are dying to try!
