A few weeks ago I was scrolling through my Instagram feed when something beautiful caught my eye, some new lipsticks from my favourite budget brand, Makeup Revolution. I'll be totally honest it was the packaging that really grabbed me, I am a big fan of the rose gold trend, so as soon as I saw these I knew I would have to buy some...

Having a look the website 4/5 colours caught my eye, there was only really one that I wasn't really keen on, because it's something I wouldn't normally wear and that was Girls Best Friend. However for the sake of this review, and to show you guys the collection, I thought I might as well pick them all up, and for £3 each it wasn't that big a deal for me to add the extra one to my order.

Girls Best Friend
First up is probably what was my least favourite in the collection when I first ordered them, Girls Best Friend. In the tube this looks like a bright bubblegum pink, as such I was fairly terrified of this colour. Pink is a colour that I definitely tend to avoid, however I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the colour is a bright pink, however because of the sheer nature of the lipstick it looks a lot more natural, and is definitely a colour I could learn to enjoy.

Private Members Club
Private Members Club was the lipstick that I was most excited to try when I saw the preview of the collection. I must say I was a little disappointed with this one as the pictures on the website make it look a lot more purple than it actually is. I mean, yes you can tell it has some purple tones, but I personally would call this more of a wine colour. Totally feel free to correct me if I am wrong here! This is probably one of the most sheer of the collection, and was definitely the hardest to apply. In places the lipstick seemed to break off in small concentrated dots that would then stick to the lips, still I guess you would have to look pretty close to notice. This was also Tim's favourite colour of the collection on me!

Red Carpet
Red Carpet was definitely one of my favourites, I own a lot of Matte Red lipsticks, however I don't actually own a sheer everyday red like this one, and I am so in love with it. This one is easy to apply simply gliding on to the lips with no problem. Although it is still sheer, it has a lot more of an opaque feel than the others.

Chauffeur
Chauffeur is a colour that I have seen people going mental for online, mainly in Makeup Facebook groups I am part of, but still! In fact this shade is the only one currently out of stock on the website, thankfully I didn't have to wait for them to restock, I placed an order before everyone went mad for this one. In the tube this one looks like the perfect nude colour for most skin tones, but did it suit me? Personally I've never found a nude lipstick that I have liked on me, because they make me look ill, probably because I am so pale. However for some reason this nude seems to work on me, I think that is because it is very close to my natural lip colour, but just a more toned down version.

Diamond Life
Diamond Life was another small disappointment for me... On the website this was another colour that looked more purple than it actually turned out. I was expecting this to be a more mauve colour, however it turned out to be a deep red on my lips. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely colour, and one I can really see myself wearing, but it wasn't what I was expecting when I bought it. Like Private Members Club this is one of the more sheer in the collection, something which with this particular shade really works. However unlike Private Members Club this was a lot easier to apply, and is my second favourite of this collection.

So was the collection worth it?

If you are a big fan of Makeup Revolution already then I can see you really enjoying this new collection. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, and there is a decent range of colours, meaning if you were completely new to lipsticks, buying this whole collection would give you a good starting point. Another plus point of these is that they are only £3 each, a complete steal! However these lipsticks are very sheer, so if like me you are a bigger fan of a matte finish then these my not be the ones for you. On top of that the colours on the website particularly for Diamond Life and Private Members Club were very misleading, which was a real disappointment for me. I guess the moral of the story is to check Google Images for swatches taken by other people before buying.

Have you bought any of the Rose Gold Lipsticks, Let me know in the comments what you thought?
