My Recent Palette Purchases

Thursday, 3 March 2016

Last year I made the decision not to buy only Drugstore/cheap makeup, and to spend some money investing in some high end makeup. This was in the hopes that I would be a lot more likely to use the makeup that I bought, considering it would cost a decent amount of money. Now I'm sure that I have mentioned before that I have an absolute obsession with eye shadow palette's, so naturally that is where I started...

One of the first palettes on my 'hitlist' was the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette. I had seen so many photographs and tutorials using this palette, and the more I saw it the more I became obsessed. It also really helps that these shades are perfect for blue eyes, well any eyes really, but browns/coppers are supposed to be great for blue eyes. This little beauty set me back £15.50 from Beauty Bay, which honestly I thought was a pretty decent price for 10 eyeshadows. I have used this palette once so far and was really impressed with how pigmented the shadows are. My favourite colours in the palette are as follows... 'Pure Ganache', which is a shimmery golden colour, perfect for highlighting the centre of the lid. 'Freshly Toasted' which is a dark red/brown colour perfect for using on the outer corner of the lid when creating a copper coloured look. My absolute favourite colour in this palette has to be 'Warm Notes' it's a beautiful shimmery deep pink/purple colour, and is my choice to use all over the lid when creating a look with this palette.

At the same time I picked up my Cocoa Blend palette I knew that I should probably pick up another of the Zoeva Palette's, especially as they only cost £15.50 each. Another Zoeva palette that I had seen all over the internet was the Rose Golden palette full of beautiful pinks and browns to create perfect day to night looks. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't managed to use this palette yet, but I have still picked out my three favourite shades from the palette that I think would work beautifully together, and they are... 'Foil' which is a lovely champagne colour perfect for brow bone/inner corner highlight. 'Copper is King' is a beautiful orangey copper colour, which almost looks pink, this would definitely be an all over the lid colour for me. 'Rusty Petals' is the perfect crease/outer corner shade and would compliment the other two colours perfectly.

I knew that when I made the decision to buy High End makeup that Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes were very high on my list. Specifically a Naked Palette. As a lifestyle/beauty blogger I am ashamed to say that until very recently I did not own a naked palette. It wasn't because I didn't want to, but for some reason I never seemed to get around to buying one. Then I joined a makeup sales group on Facebook, and saw a lot of people selling their second hand Naked palettes for a decent price and I just couldn't resist. I went for a Naked 3 palette, mainly because it was available at the time, but also was in a pretty good condition considering it is used. I believe I paid around £30 including postage for this, which I was fairly happy with as it only looks lightly swatched. As with the Cocoa Blend I have managed to use this one several times, and love it for creating beautiful everyday looks. My favourite shades from this palette are great on their own, but also make a great look when used together. 'Dust' is my first favourite and is a light pink shimmer shade which I love using as a highlight colour. Next up is 'Trick' which is a lovely light gold shimmer, and is my favourite all over the lid shade (are you sensing a theme here). Finally there is 'Mugshot' which is a dark brown with a hint of silver shimmer in it perfect for darkening the crease.

At the same time I bought my second hand Naked 3, I also bought the Urban Decay Vice 3. I can't remember whether I bought these from the same seller or not, but I may have done. As such I can't exactly remember what I bought this one for. It was a good price though, and as you can see this palette is a little more heavily used that the Naked 3, but still it's in great condition.  I'm ashamed to say that I haven't used this yet because the colours in this palette are stunning, and aren't your typical everyday shades. I've picked three shades that I really like the look of from this palette, and they don't necessarily go together but my eyes are drawn to them. First up is 'Heroine' which is a gorgeous deep navy shade, which would make the perfect blue smokey eye, plus blue is my bae. Next up is 'Alchemy' which is a deep burgundy.wine shade which I absolutely adore, it's not the kind of colour I would normally go for, but it is so pretty. Finally I chose 'Sonic' which is what I'd call a rose golden/copper colour, and I can really see myself wearing this shade a lot.

The final palette I have purchase recently is yet another Urban Decay palette and is the Vice 4. I actually picked this one up in January with my Christmas money, and was actually the first one I bought out of this entire list. However I haven't actually used this one yet, it is in pristine condition, it looks so beautiful, in comparison to the Vice 3 these shades are fairly toned down in my opinion, but that means I can attempt some crazy day time looks right? I've picked another three shades that my eye keeps getting drawn to from this palette, although I wouldn't put these three together... Probably the most wearable of the shades is 'Flame' which is a beautiful orange copper colour which has silver flecks in it, there is nothing not to like about this shade. 'Arctic' is the next shade which I'd say is a mint shimmer colour, one that I wouldn't have every thought of putting on my eyes, but now I've seen it, I can't help but love it. Finally we have 'Pandemonium' which is a deep purple, perfect for a smokey eye. I love purple eye looks, but I never seem to be able to make them work on me, maybe having this shade in my collection will help me to create a purple look that suits me.

Now I've purchased these 5 palette's I feel like my collection is off to a great start, and I feel as though I don't need to pick up any eyeshadow palettes for a good while... Not that it will stop me...

Let me know in the comments if you have any of these palettes and whether you have any recommendations for me!
