Beautiful classic packaging
A long time ago when I was younger my mum was an Avon Representative and I used to help her hand out books, and collect them, and every so often she would let me put a little order in. Nine times out of ten that order would be makeup, I used to be absolutely obsessed with the Colour Trend brand they have, and because it was so cheap I could often get quite a few bits. When mum stopped being a representative, I kind of just stopped buying Avon. That was until very recently when Avon seem to be trying to re-market themselves towards a younger market...

When I saw that Avon were bringing out matte lipsticks I got very excited. It was only very recently that I have become interested in lipsticks, and part of that reason is the boom in the matte lipstick trend. The perfectly matte's come in 15 different shades, ranging from nudes all the way through to berry tones. Avon claim that they have tested their lipsticks against Mac brand mattes and have concluded that their lipsticks are 'More matte than Mac'. I personally cannot go into that claim too much as I personally am not a fan of Mac and as such I don't own any of their lipsticks, let alone a matte one. So instead I will simply comment on what I think about the Avon ones.

Lets start with the packaging, it certainly looks luxurious in a lovely black tube with silver embellishments. The finish of the packaging is also matte, which I thought was a nice touch. The lipsticks are also printed with the Avon brand just in case you forget where you bought them from! I don't own any other Avon lipsticks so I can't really compare what the packaging for these is like in comparison to their other range's, but I really like this packaging, it looks nice against all my other lipsticks.

Adoring Love is the first shade I decided to pick up. Now I'm not normally a fan of pink lipsticks however this one really caught my eye. It's bright whilst at the same time almost having nude undertones. It applies well and doesn't really feel drying. The thing with this lipstick and all other matte lipsticks is that it will cling slightly to any dry patches you have. However I wouldn't really see this as a minus because this can happen with any matte lipstick. This for me is a 'better than my lips' shade, which to me just means it is enhancing my natural lip colour without being too obviously a different colour.

The next shade I chose to pick up was Red Supreme, as I had heard somewhere that this was a direct dupe for a really popular Mac shade, but for the life of me I can't remember which one! In my opinion you can never have too many red lipsticks, and that's funny considering about a year or so ago I never would have worn a red lipstick out in public. This was very similar to Adoring Love in application, and again didn't feel drying on my lips at all. This one is a really nice bright postbox red, and is the perfect everyday red if you are daring enough to wear it every day anyway!

Are they more matte than Mac? I honestly couldn't tell you, but they are very good matte lipsticks, and I will certainly be buying more shades very shortly.

So are these lipsticks worth it? The price point for these lipsticks is certainly competitive, I paid £5.50 each for my two, however at the moment they are on the Avon website for £5. I know the full price of these is going to be £8, but still if you compare that to the price tag of a Mac lipstick (£15.50) it's almost half the price. Like I mentioned I can hardly compare to a Mac lipstick because I don't own any, but I know that considering I could buy two of these for only one Mac lipstick, I would hands down pick these!

Do you have any of the Avon perfectly matte lipsticks? Let me know in the comments what you thought of them.
