The picture above really made me giggle, how sad am I? Anyway.. onto my pet peeve's!
- People Who are Fake: Now I completely understand that people have different persona's depending upon the people that they are in the company of. Even I act differently with my friends than I do my family, but not by much. I hate people who's persona's are COMPLETELY different to who they are, it's just dishonest. It's like meeting someone for the first time and they try to be extra nice, and then weeks down the line you find out they have habits that if you knew of in the first place then you wouldn't have bothered. This often means that when people first meet me they think I'm a bit in your face, but what you see with me is what you get. I'll be constant. Once you get to know me you realise that I do actually think about how other people are feeling. People just need to be honest about WHO they are.
- People who discriminate: I'm not just talking about racism, and sexism here. I'm talking about the rarely talked about discrimination's that are as relevant but thought of as much smaller issues. Such as discrimination against vegetarians. Although there is no outright 'banning' or anything like that of vegetarians, you will find that people often take the view that if you are a vegetarian then there is something wrong with you. I found this in January when I spent the month as a vegetarian, people often scoffed at my choice, and even more so when I told them I was trying it temporarily. At the end of the day it's MY choice. I'm not hurting anyone by being vegetarian so leave me alone. The same thing goes for discriminating against people that like a certain kind of music. I LOVE Pop music, and chart music, but that doesn't mean I don't listen to any other bands or artists, and even if I didn't it's none of your business. I've always been laughed at for my tastes in music, I find that people tend to think that people who like Pop music are 'sheep', which simply isn't the case. When I joined my Uni's student radio station I had hoped to meet a bunch of like minded people who at least liked appreciate the commercial value of Pop music. Instead I found I was one of few, most of the members liked Dubstep, Drum and Base and general Club music. Which I have no gripe with, I can see it's appeal in certain situations. I however was basically seen as an idiot for liking pop music, and boy bands, so in the end I quit (there were other reasons but it sprung from this basic discrimination). So yeah... LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE! THEIR CHOICES ARE THEIR OWN!
- Walking through town: Now this may seem like a strange one. I don't just mean walking through town, my pet peeve is more with the people that I face when I'm walking through town. You always get that one person who slows right down for no reason and holds up a whole line of people. Then you get the ones who just STOP in the middle of the curb so you can't get around them. Then there's the people who think they own the curb and just bowl their way through the town expecting people to get out of their way - they annoy me the most. When I'm walking through town I could be on my phone, talking to a friend, or just in an absent state of mind. BUT I am still conscious of every single obstacle in my way, and I go out of my way to make sure I am not an obstruction to anyone else. If I do obstruct someone, I APOLOGISE. Simple as that.
So there are my three main pet peeve's. I'm sure I could rant all day about things that annoy me but I think these three cover my main issues! Let me know in the comments what your pet peeve's are, and if you want to check out the other challenges so far then click the links below:
- Day 1 - Self Portrait and 5 random facts
- Day 2 - Favourite Quotes
- Day 3 - What makes you happy?
- Day 4 - Best Childhood Memories
- Day 5 - Movies I never get sick of.
Spot on! #3 happened to me just the other day and I was like really... of course it only happens when I'm in a hurry!
ReplyDeleteYes to all three!! It drives me nuts when people walk really slow in front of you, and they tend to position themselves so there's no way around them! Number 2, I was a vegetarian for nearly 20 years, so believe me, I know all about that one!
ReplyDeleteYes to all xx

I totally agree about fake people. Friends on Facebook who seems like the sweetest people who give all their attention to their husband and kids and the husband, of course, is the greatest man ever.....when I know that they yell all day at him and the kids; he cleans the house and cooks the meals and bitches at her .........need I go on?
ReplyDeletePeople who are scornful of vegetarians are ridiculous. I mean seriously, who the hell is it hurting? My best friend is a pescetarian, whereas I'm a full fledged meat eater. Does it matter, not one bit. Hell, it rarely even comes up in conversation.
ReplyDeleteI hardly think you were discriminated against at Bay Radio for having awful taste in music. I don't think anyone cared to be honest.
ReplyDeleteOk that was harsh. But you decided to leave and I think discriminated is a strong word.
