24 Years Old Today...

Tuesday, 2 February 2016

Left to right: Me one year ago, Me last weekend

Today is my 24th birthday, and honestly I feel really unprepared this year. Normally as soon as Christmas is over I start planning for my birthday, and I always have some sort of plan. This year however I have nothing. To be honest a lot of it was down to how I have been really struggling with my mental health, and seriously haven't even been motivated to do anything interesting. Tim did take me to Cardiff for my birthday last weekend, posts on that will be going up later in the month! As for today we are going out for a posh meal together, and then later in the week I am going out for a meal with my family, so it's not really as if we are doing nothing for my birthday.

To celebrate my 24th, I thought I would share with you 24 memories (some good, some bad) from my life so far, in no particular order...
  1. One of my most vivid memories is the day that my brother had an epileptic fit. It was summer, I must have been about 7/8, and my dad was looking after us, I was outside riding my bike with a friend and an ambulance pulled up at the end of the close. They wound down the window to ask for directions, and the address they gave was for my house, so I immediately panicked. They rushed in and I remember that my dad wouldn't let me in, and watched through the letterbox. It was such a surreal day... thankfully everything turned out OK though!
  2.  One of my favourite things that we used to do at School every Easter was to paint eggs. There was a contest every year where you could paint eggs as your favourite characters from books/TV etc. and there were always prizes for the best. I just remember making these with my mum and it was always so fun.
  3. When I was four my sister was born, when mum brought her home my first question was 'Where is my baby brother?', because my parents had really wanted a boy, and even made me waste a birthday wish on one. It wasn't for another two years that I finally got my baby brother.
  4. I went to a Church of England primary school as such we celebrated all of the major Christian holidays, one of my favourites was Christingle, because we would spend a whole afternoon making oranges with little skewers of sweets on and a candle on top. Instead of concentrating on making as many as possible, I spent my time eyeing up what everyone else was doing and sussing out which one had the most sweets. This was so that later, at the church service, I could pick up the one with the most sweeties!
  5. McDonald's birthday parties... I must have had a least four of them, and all it involved was trying to hide in the upstairs area of our local McDonald's playing hide and seek. By the time they actually got a proper party room I was too old for it, and resented them.
  6. When I was about 6/7 my parents took us all to Disneyland Paris, I was ecstatic. My dad took me on the ghost train a.k.a Phantom Manor, it seriously terrified me. So much so that my teeth started chattering, much like Scooby Doo's, and they wouldn't stop for like an hour afterwards.
  7. Also during that Paris trip my dad and I started to climb the Eiffel tower, whilst my mum stayed at the bottom with my brother and sister. When we got about half way up dad said, 'Let's get back down, your mum's probably getting cold', so I never got to climb to the top. I think my dad was just scared of heights...
  8. When I was younger I overheard my mum talking to a friend and they swore, I copied them, and this resulted in my mum shutting me in the garden as punishment, in the dark, and I'm still afraid of the dark...
  9. Back in my childhood one of mums great friends lived only across the road with her daughter, who still remains one of my best friends. One day we were in her back garden, mum and her had a few drinks, and we were eating ice cream. In their tipsy state our mothers were pouring ice cream sauce into our mouths, this resulted in us getting covered. So my mum decide's she'll run us a bath at our house. I used to have a MASSIVE crate of bath toys, and mum tips it into the bath, and with the toys is a giant spider, so we both scream and get out, and won't get back in until my mum fishes the spider out, which she had to do, whilst drunk...
  10. In Primary school we always did a nativity play, one year when we had a new teacher they decided to do a 'proper' nativity, it was a play which I believe was called, 'Give thanks to the Angel' and revolved around how the angel was the most important part of Christmas and the Nativity story. Everyone in school wanted to be the angel, but I got chosen, and I was super smug about it!

  11. One time Me and my mum were watching TV downstairs and my sister was awfully quiet upstairs, so my mum went to check on her. Mum called down to me to come to the bottom of the stairs, and she made my sister show me what she had done. She'd gotten into my 'play make up' and made herself look like a clown, she cried so hard that I couldn't be mad.
  12. My brother used to have terrible anxiety/travel sickness, and he would always be sick in the car. Mum would make him have a carrier bag in his lap to be sick in, and me and my sister would always scramble to get out the car if he was going to be sick... it was so annoying because he would always do it at the most inappropriate time, thankfully he grew out of it.
  13. I was bullied a lot in Secondary school, like most people right? Anyhow one time this girl poured a whole pot of yogurt on my head and I had to walk right through the busiest part of the school to get to the teachers lounge. It was the most embarrassing thing ever.
  14. My childhood dog, Sadie, used to have what we called, 'a funny five minutes' where she was zoom around the living room. She also liked to pull out socks off of our feet, which always made us giggle when we were kids. She was the best dog ever.
  15. When I was in year 9 I had a fight with a girl from my village. A lot of people had been gossiping and fuelling both sides, telling her I had said things which I hadn't and vice versa, anyway it culminated in her hitting me. So I flew off of a bench at her and we were rolling around on the floor hitting each other. We got in pretty big trouble because potential head teachers were visiting that day.
  16. I used to be best friends with the vicars daughter, and I'd always go over there to play and stay for dinner. Much to my mother's dismay I repeated a lot of dirty jokes that I overheard at home to the vicar. He was pretty cool about it though, and even found them funny!
  17. In my younger days we always used to holiday at Butlins in Minehead, and I had a mega crush on a red coat called, 'Shiny Shaun', my parents still taunt me about this.
  18. In year 10/11 I was a 'Bus Prefect' which meant I oversaw everyone on my bus journey home, and made sure no one got bullied etc. This privilege got revoked however when a year 7 boy at the front of the bus was getting bullied by all of the other year 7's, so I moved him to the back of the bus with me. He clearly wasn't happy with this and his mother complained to the school because I should have moved the boy who was bullying him. Even if I had removed the one main bully the others would have carried on bullying him... I couldn't win.

  19. When I was applying for university, the head of our sixth-form wrote my reference to the universities, due to a very personal issue that was going on at the time (outside of school). When he gave me a copy to read I was so angry and upset because there were several spelling mistakes in it... I genuinely cried for the rest of the day and thought he had ruined my chances of going to Uni. Thankfully that wasn't the case.
  20. At university, out at my first social for the student radio station I tried to out-drink a second year. It was pub golf so we had to have a certain drink at each bar, and drink in a certain number of swigs to hit 'par'. This guy kept shouting fresher at me so I said to him if I beat him at pub golf, then he could never call me a fresher again. I was doing so well, then in the second to last pub I threw up. It's the only time I have ever thrown up in the toilets of a pub/bar, and honestly it was the worst, I was so ill that night.
  21. My graduation day was one of my proudest moments, but at the same time it was SO boring. Sitting through a graduation ceremony takes serious patience. Oh and the guy calling our names pronounced my name wrong... despite me telling the ushers how it was pronounced...
  22. I once got an after school detention for drinking beer on the bus journey home, I had one sip. I literally had the worst luck with getting caught out for things like this.
  23. I once turned up for a Lady Gaga concert a whole day before the actual date of the concert. For some reason myself (and my boyfriend at the time) were so sure it was on a Wednesday night, so we got ready and my dad drove us all the way up there. When we got to the gate the guy informed us the concert wasn't until the next day, needless to say my dad was really pissed, and I felt like a right muppet.
  24. I went on a Spanish Exchange trip when I was in year 9/10, and we visited a monastery, and did a Tai Chi class. Whilst we were doing some breathing exercises my friend had a really funny turn and became faint. A teacher and instructor took her and I aside and we got to me what I believe they called the 'head llama' of the monastery. He told my friend to close her eyes and picture him if she ever felt faint ever again. I was thinking, 'well this is a load of bollocks' and he turned to me, looked me deep in the eyes, and said, 'and you also'. I was convinced that he had just read my mind...
So there you have it folks, 24 memories from my life so far. I hope they have been an interesting read for you all. Let me know in the comments if you relate to any of these?

Friday Favourites: What I got for my Birthday

Friday, 6 February 2015

This year, my birthday was a bit of a strange one to be honest, considering it was my 23rd birthday it was hardly a milestone or anything... Even so I still managed to get a good few gifts, and I thought I would share them with you.

This year Tim decided to go down the board game route, and bought me a few games that I have wanted for a long time. Last week was actually the first time that I had played Cards Against Humanity physically, when I was visiting my sister at uni, so I was pleased to see that Tim got it for me. This game is honestly hours of hilarious (and slightly insulting) fun. Small World was actually a board game that I came across at Uni when a friend of mine got it for her birthday. I guess it's kind of like risk, but with magical creatures and abilities! Tim and I have played this twice together so far, and I beat him both times, because that's just how badass I am...

The next gift was kind of a cheat... A few weeks ago I saw that Fall Out Boy tickets would be going on sale, and I knew my sister would want to go, so I asked her if she would buy my ticket for my present. She didn't buy the whole thing, but made a contribution, so now I will be seeing Fall Out Boy again in October (literally cannot wait).

My mum actually admitted that she reads my blog (so from now on I'll have to be extra careful with what I say right?), and she saw my Wishlist Wednesday post all about Ear Cuffs, so she picked me up a couple online. They are just as cool in real life as they look in the pictures, and I can't wait to get my hands on more. She also got me this awesome and cute Jack Russell ornament which is based off of the Harvey and Rabbit Thinkbox Ad, how cute is that? She did try to get me one that looked like my dog Maizey, but I think this one is just as awesome...

Finally onto my biggest and best present... I asked everyone for money this year, as I wanted to upgrade my EOS 1100D to a 700D. Originally I was just looking at getting the camera, but then I stumbled across this AMAZING bundle on Ebay, whereby I got all the gear featured in the above photo, plus the camera I wanted... It arrived yesterday and I swear I spent most of the evening drooling over all of my new and beautiful kit. It cost a little more than I had anticipated, so Tim covered me, and then when I sell my old 1100D I will be able to make up the difference. It was a deal I simply could not miss, and I cannot wait to start improving the quality of the photos for my blog, and also my Youtube videos!

I was royally spoilt this year, and I am honestly so thankful to all of my family for making it possible for me to get exactly what I wanted.

10 Days of Me: 10 Secrets

Monday, 2 February 2015

I honestly don't remember where I found this challenge, but I thought this would be the perfect challenge for the month of February as it just so happens to be my birthday! Yes, I am 23 today (internal groaning), in fact I think I have enjoyed this birthday the least out of ALL my birthday's ever. I'm not 100% why, and it's nothing in particular, I have just been dreading it... With today being my actually 23rd birthday, it's only fair that I share a baby picture of me right?

I believe the above photo is from my Christening at my village church, and I'm not 100% how old I was here, but I think I was less than a year old. 23 years later and here I am, sitting here and writing to all of you, it's scary when you think about how quickly time goes really, soon I'll be thinking about having my own mini-Alyssia's... God help the world when I do!

Anyway, back to the challenge, today is all about 10 secrets, and I always find it hard to write 'secrets' because I think I'm a pretty open person anyway, but I will give it a shot...
  1. When I was younger I used to re-enact cartoons that I watched, which ended in me swallowing a 2p coin, and also putting things in my ears to pretend that they were earplugs (I bet my parents had fun with me right?)
  2. I used to say all manner of funny things when I was small, such as 'eye-meem' (ice-cream), 'm-m-mouse' (Micky Mouse), and 'cartickletickle' (cardigan)... I know... so embarrassing...
  3. My cousin used to cheat at board games, and win all the time, the secret is, I used to let her win, because I didn't want her to strop, and I just wanted someone to play with.
  4. I absolutely hate baked beans, so much so that if I touch one it makes me want to gag...
  5. I occasionally sleepwalk, much to Tim's recent horror when he followed me around my flat, and I was mumbling something about scary aliens...
  6. I panic whenever I am travelling, so much so that I have to have my planned route on my phone and I always triple check times/tickets etc... When my phone gets low on battery, I panic even more.
  7. I had my tonsils removed when I was 7, and I refused to leave the hospital as I hadn't had a go on their computer, my dad had to bribe me with my own computer game to get me to leave. He had hoped I would forget, but as we were about to drive past PC World, I made sure I reminded him!
  8. When my mum brought my sister home from the hospital (when she was born), I asked her if my brother (they had wanted a boy) was still in her tummy.
  9. I was engaged at the age of 17, obviously that didn't work out!
  10. When I was little I wanted to be an archaeologist and an actress, would have been the most versatile job in the world I would imagine.
So there you have it guys, 10 (not so secret) secrets for you about me. I'm not sure how many I would consider truly secret, but you know...

23 Before 23: The Final Tally

Thursday, 8 January 2015

We're only one month away from my 23rd Birthday, CRIKEY that has gone quick... With that in mind I thought it was about time that I went through my '23 Before 23' goals list and assessed what I have actually managed to achieve... I know you are probably all sick of goal related posts with it being this time of year, but my birthday is coming soon, and it needs to be done!

1. Move Out: I can happily announce that I managed this one! Tim and I have been living together almost a whole year now, and we still get on... he must be for keeps right?

2. Lose Weight: I did lose 11 Ib's last year! But then I put it all back on... so does this count?

3. Watch a new film every week!: Sadly failed at this, but I did watch some crackers in 2014

4. Keep up with my Youtube Channel: FAIL, however towards the end of the year it did seem like I was getting a handle on it!

5. Get a Full Time Job: Success! I have a full time job, at a place I love, doing something that isn't sales, massive win from my point of view.

6: Complete all the Xbox games I own!: FAIL, I did complete more than I did the year before though, so I am making progress.

7. Write weekly thankful lists over on my Tumblr: They weren't weekly by any means, but I did write some...

8. Travel Abroad!: FAIL! Unfortunately after moving out there was no money for a holiday :(

9. Find out what I want to do with my life, and stick to it!: I have made a decision with what I want to do, and I am sticking to it, there are a few things that I need to put in place, but I am working on it.

10. Take up a sport: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!

11. Practice my craft/s: I have been baking a hell of a lot more this year, so I'd call this one a success.

12. Write a daily/weekly Diary: I started out well at the beginning of the year, and then kind of just fizzled out...

13. Start working to control my IBS: Whilst I haven't specifically been trying to control it, it does seem to be getting better!

14. Reach 200 Subscribers on Youtube: I've definitely gained subscribers, but nowhere near as many as I would like to have, but I guess when I begin to post more consistently then this might happen.

15. Go on an adventure every month: This didn't happen at all unfortunately... Doesn't mean that I didn't have any adventures though!

16. Read at least 1 book a month, and talk about it on my blog: Nooooooooooope

17. Start saving money: This one didn't really happen... Mainly due to moving out....

18. Support fellow Youtubers: I really struggle to find Youtubers who have a similar subscriber count to me, if you know any, please let me know in the comments.

19. Do something for charity: Last year I did the Race for Life! My goal was to do it in roughly an hour and I did it in 47 minutes, I was so emotional when I crossed the finish line, and I'm definitely planning to do it again this year...

20. Write posts when I have the idea, instead of leaving it weeks and weeks: My blogging was a lot more consistent last year, and this year it's set to be even more consistent, so watch this space!

21. Exercise EVERY day!: Once again... HAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHA

22. Blog redesign: I Had my blog redesigned! Yet I have another one in the works ;)

23. Work on being happy!: Last year was one of the best of my life, and I am so happy with the way my life is progressing, so I would definitely say this one was a win!

All in all I would say that I managed about 9/23, which isn't great, but it's more than I managed the year before, so at least I am going in the right direction! This year I'm planning to try and get at least half of my goals done, which will be posted after my birthday!

Let me know in the comments what your main goal for the year is, you know I love reading your comments!

One Year Blogiversary, and Giveaway!

Wednesday, 29 January 2014

I can't believe that it has been one whole year since I started this blog! Technically I had been blogging for much longer than that, but after starting a nail blog in November 2012 on Blogger, I decided to move my personal blog over to here too. From then on I took my blogging much more seriously, and I'm glad I did. I never thought this blog would grow as it has done, and I'm so thankful for all the new friends that I have made through blogging. This past year has been very interesting, and also very up and down for me, but I'm glad that my blog has given me something to focus on! So to celebrate a year of Alyssiarose, I thought I'd share a few things with you dear readers.

Firstly I wanted to share with you what I have done on the blog so far, and then I remembered I wrote a year in review post in December, that goes through what I got up to last year! So check that our if you want to see what I have achieved on this blog in one year!

Secondly I want to share my blog goals with you all, as I think it's very important to have something to help you focus!

  1. Pick up on all the features I seem to have left behind recently! I'm mainly talking about posts like 'My Week in Instapics', and carrying on with my Gaming diaries, seeing as those are the posts that I have the most fun writing!
  2. Blog at least once a week! This is something I have been seriously slacking on recently, just taking a look at my archive, it makes me cringe seeing how much I've neglected this blog recently!
  3. Continue to Youtube! I've really been enjoying making Youtube videos properly for the past few months, and I'm planning to keep it up. In fact I have a little surprise coming up next week that will ensure I will keep making videos!
  4. Have a greater presence online! I want to start a dialogue with all my readers, I want to be there for you all to chat with. So this goal is all about me responding to comments, and making a conscious effort to comment on other peoples blogs/Youtube channels!
  5. Take more photos! I have an amazing camera, and I am guilty of not using it to it's full potential! So this year, I want to bombard you all with photos!
So there you have it, my main goals for this year, we'll see how far I get with them!

Finally, to celebrate my blog reaching it's first year, I wanted to host a giveaway! Considering I posted a video recently about my addiction to Eyeshadow Palettes, I thought I might as well give in, and giveaway another one!

So I'm going to be giving away a W7 'In The Buff' palette!

This palette has been ALL over the internet recently, but I first saw it in a video by Siobhan of the LetzMakeup Blog and Youtube Channel! She was talking about how it is a possible Dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette, you can check out her post here. Knowing how much bloggers love the Naked Palette, my curiosity was peaked, and I had to take a look! She not only posted a photo of the palettes together, but also swatched them side-by-side, photos of which you can check out below:

Top row: W7, In the Buff Palette, Bottom row: Urban Decay, The Naked Palette.

So you can see that although they aren't perfect matches, they are pretty darn close, and considering the difference in price, £5 vs. £38 (prices according to Ebay), you have to sit up and take notice of this palette!

To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is fill out the rafflecopter widget below! The giveaway will run until the end of February, so good luck everyone!

Birthday Wishlist!

Wednesday, 22 January 2014

With it being just over a week until my birthday I thought that it might be a good idea to start talking about the things that I want for my birthday!

I've actually really struggled with what I want this year, but I managed to think of six things that I wouldn't mind getting!
  1. LUSH Bath Bombs: After being originally shown LUSH by bloggers, I have become obsessed, however my current favourite products are bath bombs, any and all in the range would be a welcome birthday gift!
  2. Primark Gift Voucher: All the things I could buy with a gift voucher... Nuff Said.
  3. Blue Rose Iphone Case: I am definitely in need of a new case for my iphone.. we all know how much I love rose patterns and the colour blue...
  4. Makeup The Ultimate Guide: I want to brush up on my makeup skills, and I'm hoping that this book would help me.
  5. Real Techniques Starter Kit: This was on my Christmas wishlist, and as you may be able to tell, I didn't get it for Christmas. Hoping it will make it's way into my gifts this time!
  6. Small World: This is a nerdy board game that I first played with my uni friends, and it is super fun!

Other than that, the only other thing I can really think of that I want is experience vouchers. My adventure lust from last year really hasn't subsided. I want to go horse riding, quad biking, 4x4 off-roading, rock climbing etc...

I don't know why I struggled so much!

Berkshire Bloggers do #SBBC: Sentimental Item

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

I am a very sentimental person, nothing makes me prouder than something that reminds me of someone that I love very much. Today I'm going to share with you two of my most prized possessions. One is kind of funny, and the other reminds me of someone who was very dear to me.

This very cluttered thing here is an electronic piano, and it's very special to me. I hardly play it anymore to be honest, and as you can see its basically a shelf. BUT it was bought for me, by someone very special to me. My granddad Gilbert. He and I really got on. I would spend a couple of weeks every summer with my Nan and him. He'd take me to the library and help me pick out a stack of books, and then when I read them all really fast, he'd just laugh and take me back to the library to get more. He spoilt me rotten whilst I was there, he'd take me to McDonalds, and get all my favourite cereals and sweets in. Above all, he was always genuinely interested in what I was doing. He'd always ask me about how I was getting on at school, what I was interested in. He'd sit there and listen to me, and he always took an interest. I took piano lessons when I was in primary school/early secondary school. I was really good at it, and he loved that. My mum and dad couldn't afford a piano for me to practice on, and so Granddad got me this.

Unfortunately a few years ago, a week after my birthday, Gilbert passed away. When mum told us, I really didn't know how to handle it. His funeral was really tough for me, I just couldn't believe that he wasn't going to be around anymore. I still cringe when I go into my Nan's flat and see the corner where he used to sit. I miss him. However I like to remember him for all the funny things he used to do, like eating peanuts and then pulling his false teeth out so he could pick out the bits. He used to pretty much constantly sing 'Glory Glory Man United' around me. He was a proper character, and a wonderful bloke.

Now onto a bit more of a light-hearted and strange sentimental item, that has actually already featured on this blog before! Brace yourselves....

This is an original art piece, created for me by my very talented and wonderful best friend Ellie. I can already feel the 'WHAT THE HELL' looks that this post is going to get, but let me explain. One day we were walking through town, and we got onto the subject of gifts. I mentioned that for my next birthday, I would like her to make me a drawing. Now one thing I must explain about myself and Ellie, is that we have a very weird and wonderful sense of humor. So to see what her reaction was, I said this: 'I want you to draw us both naked, riding a black unicorn, AND A PROPER UNICORN! Not just a horse with a horn. and I want you to be sitting behind me and holding onto me by my boobs'. Obviously we both thought this was hilarious, and not a lot more was said about it. Then my birthday came around and when she handed me my gift I instantly knew what it was. I honestly laughed for half an hour. I think this is hands down the best gift I have ever been given. There are a few of our other personal jokes in there that it would take me far too long to explain, but every single part of this picture is relevant to us. For that reason this is one of my most prized possessions!

Hope you enjoyed that litter personal insight into me, it got a little more personal than usual!

Birthday Roundup!

Tuesday, 5 February 2013

Hello again my little rose petals! Seems like forever since I last posted (even though I had posts that went up at the weekend)!

At the weekend I celebrated my 21st Birthday! I decided to take my two best friends home for the weekend to celebrate with my family, and I thought I would share with you what happened! Let's start with what I actually got for my birthday!

From top left to bottom right: A selection of small gifts, The drawing my best friend Ellie made me, Doctor Who memorabilia, Fox Handbag!

As you can see from the picture in the top left I got a few different small gifts from family and friends, including a zombie book from Elliot, a Doctor Who DVD, and Justin Beiber's perfume. Now don't get me wrong, I HATE Justin Beiber's music, but he managed to make a pretty decent fragrance, and I've wanted to get my hands on it for a while now. I would have done so much sooner had it not been for the name attached to the fragrance! My nan bought me the fox handbag, I had seen it in Accesorize when we were in reading together and she managed to snap it up for me. My favourite present of all has to be the drawing that Ellie made me. I kind of half seriously, half joking asked her to draw us both naked riding a black unicorn, and she made it! The best thing is that the face actually really looks like me, even if you can't really see it that well in this photo! Ellie also bought me the three downloadable expansions for Skyrim, including the one in which you can build your own house, and adopt children. Safe to say I will be playing those as soon as I get a free moment! Other than that I basically got money. I still have gifts from a few of my friends to come which I will be getting on Saturday! So i'll be sure to post about them too!

So what did I actually get up to? I could tell you, but showing you is more interesting!

From Top Left to Bottom Right: Ellie being Ellie, CLAW MACHINE, Elliot being an expert bowler, Me and my sis pre-dinner, Best friends at dinner, Hat swapping, Extreme ice cream close-up, Flat cap fashion stolen from Granddad, Birthday Cake Topper

On the Saturday after opening gifts, we went into Newbury for a spot of shopping, though I didn't actually buy anything. I had my first meaty McDonalds since before Christmas and savoured every single bite of it. Then me and the bestie's went bowling! We played three games and Elliot won every single time. I actually managed to get progressively worse which I thought was quite an acheivement. I went from 85 to 83, to 80. Shameful. Then we hit the town on Saturday night where we managed to stumble across a hilarious attempt by one pub to get around planning permission. There were two toilets in one cubicle. Me and Ellie almost died! You can find the picture of that here. Then we went into the Diamond Tap where in the toilets my father apparently punched someone who was drug dealing... (Standard), and then moved onto the ONLY club in Newbury (Fever) which I thought was going to be rubbish, but in actual fact they played some pretty decent tunes and we managed to dance the night away!  THEN on Sunday we went for a meal at the Hungry Horse in Wantage where I had a lovely Sirloin Steak OM NOM NOM! I didn't realise how much I missed steak until I had it again. The rest of the time at home was spent chilling because we were all so tired.

All in all I had an AMAZING weekend and I'm so glad I got to spend it with ALL my favourite people. Even some people that I didn't expect to see.

I hope you all had an amazing weekend! Also I hope you enjoyed this post, I'm hoping to do weekly(ish) posts like this, let me know if you want to see that!

ALSO my giveaway is still going on until the end of February, so CHECK IT OUT!

I'm 21!!!

Saturday, 2 February 2013

Hello there my lovely rose petals! Today is my 21st birthday! Wow I feel old. I'll admit I'm cheating this and writing it before my birthday because I'm going home for the weekend with a few friends to spend time with my family and I doubt there will be blogging time! Don't worry there will be a detailed gifts post when I return and I've received my gift from a certain someone!

21 years ago at a quarter past midnight (give or take a few minutes) I was born at Basingstoke hospital to my wonderful mother Lisa. Since that day I've learned a lot of life lessons, mainly about men, and been through some horrific things in my childhood. Ultimately these things made me a stronger person. I've done my GCSE's, 'A' Levels and now I'm in my final year at Aberystwyth University studying Film and Television studies. In the past year I have grown up an awful lot. I'm a lot calmer, and I've learned to control my emotions. I've learned how to be a good friend, and I've learned what it is to live independently. I also managed to meet The Wanted twice, which isn't too shabby!

I had a long hard think about what I could do that would be special for my birthday and then I stumbled across a tab on the blog Is That You Darling? which is run by the lovely Jane, entitled 31 before 31! Which is basically a list of 31 things that Jane wants to do before she turns 31. So I thought to myself, why not write 22 things I want to do before I reach 22!  So without further ado here they are! (Prepare yourself for a very wordy post)

  1. Go on holiday without my family (Outside of the UK): I have been away without my family, but that was with my ex's family, I've never just been by myself or with friends and I really think I'm old enough to!
  2. Make an item of clothing: I've been saying for ages that I wanted to make myself a dress, and maybe now is the time
  3. Write a script: I have a lot of story ideas but I never seem to manage to get them down on paper so my goal this year is to write a script for a feature film!
  4. Do the Race For Life: This is something I kind of decided I was going to do anyway, but I still haven't signed myself up yet and made the complete commitment.
  5. Make a Scrapbook: I've always wanted a scrapbook, so I went and bought some things and I'll be starting one asap!
  6. Get a tattoo: I've been planning a tattoo for a long time, using my weight as an excuse to wait to get one, but maybe I should just take the plunge/
  7. Watch every film on my 'To Watch' list: Being a film student you would think that I've seen most films, but my 'to watch' list is shamefully long for someone on my course and I really need to remedy that!
  8. Learn a new craft: I'm not sure what this will be yet, it could be a new language, or a new hobby. I'll decide later.
  9. Lose weight: This one is quite open. Ultimately I want to be the weight I was when I came to university and to do that I need to lose 2 stone, which I could do in a year!
  10. Start making Youtube Videos: This is something I have tried to do countless times but then I make a few videos and decide I don't like them and remove them from Youtube. I recently bought a DSLR so I have no excuse not to be creating content.
  11. Take more photos: This includes being in photos. I get bored very easily when I'm taking photos. I need to not do that, this will also help with my scrapbooking!
  12. Walk my Dog more: This is something that I can't start until I move home from uni in May, but I do need to walk her more, that poor dog is depraved.
  13. Work my way through my favourite baking book and see how far I can get: I have a 101 recipe baking book and it is literally my bible. I have made a few recipes from it, but I want to work my way from beginning to end. We'll see how that goes.
  14. Read 5 Classic Novels: I'm not terrible at reading, I have read a few of the greats, but I always wish that I'd read a few more.
  15. Stay in Touch with my friends: This one is massively important to me. My biggest worry is that I won't see/speak to my friends very often when we graduate in May.
  16. Play a sport: I'm not very good with sports, but I feel like playing one would be beneficial to me, especially on the weight loss front. Rounders is my favourite sport but I also used to take Ballroom and Latin dancing (yes I consider that a sport).
  17. Move out of my mum's house?: I'm not sure about this one yet, it will depend on how quickly I get a job etc. I won't be moving home until May, but I don't want to be there for too long, mainly because I have to share a room with my sister, and I don't want to do that forever.
  18. Have a radio show: In my first year of university I was part of the student radio station and I absolutely loved it! I had to quit due to disagreements with a few of the members, and I miss it dearly. I was often told how good a presenter I made, and I really want to take it up again. I already have a possible volunteer show lined up, maybe it could turn into a career.
  19. Listen to more music: I love pop music, but I'm not very good with keeping up with what's in the charts!
  20. See more of the UK: I haven't seen a lot of Britain, and I want to remedy this by travelling around more, even on day trips and seeing everything I can.
  21. Write a letter to someone who inspires me: This will most likely be someone famous but not necessarily.
  22. Maintain my blogs!: This one is quite a boring one, but it's also an important one. Blogging is a good creative outlet for me and I need to keep up not only my personal blog but my Nail blog too. We'll see.
So there we are! 22 things I want to do before I reach 22. As and when I do these I'll make sure I blog about them and tick them off the list. I'll also be adding a tab at the top of my blog so you can track my progress if you like!

ALSO on my Nail Blog I am doing a birthday giveaway! Click here to check that out.

Let me know what you think are the best ideas on the list! I'm off to enjoy the rest of my day now, goodbye petals!
